Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

The Mystery of Marlow Manor

The place: Marlow Manor, the home of the esteemed author, Margaret Marlow, home to some of the rarest antiquities on earth.

The time: A stormy night, December 16th, 1929

The cast:

Madame Marlow, age 53, the hostess of a most unusual holiday party, and a frequent visitor to the White House (She is a personal friend of president Herbert Hoover). Madame Marlow is the praised author of a series of mystery books, and lives a reclusive life in her estate.....

Dr. Alice Regenbogen, age 36, an alumni of a prestigeous University. One of the leaders of the chemistry field, not much is known about her, other than her published works, and many a rumour...

Mr. Raymond Bloodstone, age 56, a very popular actor, famous for his roles in Hamlet and King Lear. Very bold and brash, he is not known to give up easily, especially when much is at stake...

Dr. Thaddeus Bayconn, age 67, a famed archeologist, known for his work regarding Egyptian Mummies. However, he is rumoured to be cursed by one of his finds. Frankly, that's not hard to believe...

Mr. Walker "Tex" Rychmann, age 72, a robber baron with a mean streak, and a mean attitude. He doesn't stop till he's got his way, and you're history. Don't get on his bad side...

Miss Emelia Gearheart, age 29, famed avatrix, and the first person to cross the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean at the same time (long story). She is the figurehead of her sponsor, General Aviation, who also built her airplane, the Albatross IV (bet you can't guess what happened to the other three). Best look out...

Miss Lucy Svetton, age 21, a popular singer, and a well known guest at parties. Known to freely spend, especially when the latest in fashion is offered. One of the most affluent of the guests at this party, and that's saying a lot...

Mr. Jacob Breezeway, age 29, president of Consolidated Shipping lines, and a frenemy of Tex Rychmann.  He inherited the company from his father, and quite a bit of money as well. For him, life is on the up-and-up. We'll see if that still stands after tonight...

Dr. Jameson Rutherford III, age 65, a well-known professor at a well-known university. Renowned for his work in mathematical theory...

Mr. James Jameson, age 43, a senator, who is probably just here for money...

Mr. Barry Baymour, age 56, a real estate mongul, who is only present to bribe James Jameson...

...and finally, Ms. Ruby Ameralde, age 48, a (very rich) jewel empire heiress...

Later tonight, several, shall we say, unexpected guests shall arrive...

All guests recieved the following invitation:

~--------~Dear XXXXXX~--------~   ~December 3rd, 1929, CE~

DAY 1, PART 2

Kestrel ran up to them, breathing hard. "Sorry I'm so late, I got delayed by something..." "It's OK, it's OK", said Madame Marlow. "Please get into the car, everybody" she continued. "If my memory serves me, the manual said that the car could fit up to 18 people...Anyway, move along now" she said straightening up and making a gesture to get in the car. The CBers stumbled in, bumping into each other. Strangly, the car fit every one of them, with room to spare. "There is a refrigerator in the back with food and drinks," said Madame Marlow, getting in the car's passenger seat. "Ooh" said Windswift, reaching over to open it. Inside, there was tons of food, including turkey, salads, cookies, etc. "Who would like some music?" she asked. "HAMILTON!!!!" About everyone answered. "OK," she replied. When she was busy putting it on, the Killer slipped a poisoned cookie into the fridge. "Mmmm" September said, biting into the cookie. "How are they?" asked Autumn Leaves, reaching over for one. Just as she was about to close her mouth over the cookie, September started making strangled noises. Everyone stared horrified. Suddenly, she slumped over, dropping the rest of her cookie. Icy and Moonlight screamed. Autumn Leaves looked at her cookie, stricken with fear and wondering if her cookie was poisoned too. Have I really come this close to dying? she thought.

The guests were too shocked from one of them being killed to notice the majesty of the lobby. It had a red carpet that led up to the second floor landing, and doorways leading off to other rooms. They were all thinking, Am I next? Uncomfortable, Madame Marlow broke the silence by saying, "Everybody will be assigned rooms with two other people...Execpt, of course, the room that September was going to be in..." she began, taking a small piece of paper out of her pocket. "Ok...Daisy, Rey, and Windswift will be in the Orchid Room, Gared, Little Reader, and  Autumn Leaves are in the Lily room, Moonlight and Icy are in the Rosehip Room, Booksy Owly, The Riddler and DRAGON are in the Trillium Room, and Kestrel, Sterling Eclipse , and Alexandra are in the Violet Room. Any questions?" She aksed, putting the paper back in her pocket. "There will also be room service, tea service, and bed service. Tommorow you will meet LovelyAlpaca, your co-host." "What's for dinner?" asked Sterling Eclipse. "You shall find out sooner or later, she sid winking. "I will send a maid to get you when it is time for dinner."

That is all I have time for today, and next week I will be gone on a overnight trip so I will not have to much time to post...But I will as soon as I can.
