Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Regular poetry thread

Regular poetry thread (because I'm tired of not editing my poems)

This is exactly what it sounds like! A thread to post poetry. I'm excited to read all of your work!

Hours pass,

Bells toll, mourning;

Watch as the colour fades

From our ever-spinning world.

As doors close up,

left and right,

Everybody feels it, grey sets in--

Invading every aspect of our lives;

Everyone knows

Once they open up again

All will be fine--

That is assured.

But I know differently:

My world has always been stained gray,

Drained of colour--

Long-ago,

Ever since I remember.

And I know

Opening up our doors again,

Abandoning our masks in old cupboards;

Letting the sun come through the shades,

Getting off of our zoom calls forever;

All that sounds nice, but I also know

When all is done and over,

In the end

it

will

never

bring back

my colours.

Those are lost--

Forever.

You tell me that you understand climate change is a problem.

So why do you laugh at me for not eating meat?

You tell me that you want to keep our earth clean.

So why are your lunches filled with plastic sandwich bags?

You tell me that you know what renewable energy is.

So why do you refuse solar panels because they'll

"look too ugly on the roof"?

Please.

The only thing that's ugly is the way your concern fades away as soon as you

have

to

make

sacrifice.

Explain to me.

How will anything

ever

change

when you think it's up to others to fix these problems?

It's strange.

I've only been on this planet for thirteen years

yet,

I seem to care about it more than you

ever

have.

Run away run away

Come back when you're strong

By then it'll be too late

But you can overcome it when you're stronger;

Level up level up

You can't see the difference now

Because nothing is changing-- you'll always be weak

But you can always more forwards, if only a little more;

Come on back come on back

Face the scorn and hatred head-on

Why bother with it now? Who ever cared before?

Do it for yourself and the greater good;

You're strong, after all.

a picture of me, lying in the moss

all i want some days is to run

blindly, into the forest

i’m tired of knowing where i’m headed

i want to be as lost

in the woods as i am in my own mind

i want to wander deep

where the trees are older than the very dirt their roots curl into

like sleeping things in the dark that will never wake up

i want the world to be still for me

i want to lie down on the moss like a bed

or like a grave

i’d watch the wind and the tree branches play just like we used to play

when our worlds were young and careless

As a heart shatters

It feels like the rest of the world

Collapses in;

It feels like a suit

Of glass armour, once it breaks

It buckles and stabs inwards--

Hurting far more

than any outer threat could have

Possibly dealt;

It feels like well-intended gift,

Not meant to dredge up tears of betrayal

Or slash at the reciever of those bitter roses

It feels like it consumes,

Sucks one in, like an inescapable

Whirlpool-- soon you'll drown;

And as that small world

of yours comes crashing down,

All around you;

Your bleary tearstained eyes

Are lit up by the bright lights in the valley

below, the cold night air hits your senses

Like snow, and maybe now

You know where next

to go.

What does it mean to be free?

Does it mean to soar above the trees

And float up with the clouds

As they creep, sleepily, across the sky?

Does it mean to let smooth water

Slide over your curves as you shoot forwards

Through the elusive sea?

Does it mean to prance

with long-progged feet while you sing and dance

Through field of swaying green?

Does it mean that you've escaped

your small silk-woven home

And cross vase oceans, transformed at last?

And alas, doesn't that make it seem

Like everyone is more adept at being free

Than us humans?

there are emeralds in the sky

beams of jade burning regal streaks through the unbroken blue

reflecting tenfold on the delighted face of a motherly earth

there are rubies beneath our feet

sprouts of scarlet bringing striking blossoms to the monotone grey

reflecting tenfold in the pastel gardens of an unnoticed pavilion

there are sapphires in your eyes

tides of cobalt illuminating dull hearts in the washed-up world

reflecting tenfold in the caged soul of my hopeful body

there are diamonds in my dreams

shafts of hope searing bold ideas upon the bleak horizon

reflecting tenfold in my life that is yet to come

I said I was going to start posting here like two months ago then never did, ah well XD. I'm back now!

@Snazzycakes, your poem from a while ago about Covid was haunting and beautiful and literally gave me chills, it was incredible.

@Leeli, your poem captured a very specific feeling and it was so beautiful, I loved it!

@Jaybells, all your poems are wonderful and so descriptive!

@Luna, your poem was so pretty and vivid and entrancing to read!

I just finished a poem I started a while ago, it's about one of my closest friends (whom I have a crush on, she has no idea).

how i see you

if i could

i’d lose myself in your smile

every moment

and look into your eyes

for eons

the color of sunlight

filtering through leaves

dappled jade

i’ve told you i love them

i love you

you know that

gentle hands

playing with my hair

it’s cliché

but i forget how to breathe

i could listen to you talk forever

when you’re excited

anything seems possible

when you cry

my heart breaks

your voice

is the wind in the morning

chapped hands

chapped lips

and all i want

is for you to see me

how i see you

Ohhhh I love this! So beautiful... Usually poems about unreciprocated love are unnessicarily sad, but this one is great! (Also thank you for the compliments on my poem!)
