Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Regular poetry thread

Regular poetry thread (because I'm tired of not editing my poems)

This is exactly what it sounds like! A thread to post poetry. I'm excited to read all of your work!

weightless in the air

sky above, clear and azure

how long 'til I fall?

Ooh, this is interesting!

It's so peaceful, but then that resigned inevitability of falling... Who's talking?

It seems like it might be a star, or maybe even the sun, but it's still quite mysterious.

I rule the heavens

And all those beneath

And as for my throne

I'll need never bequeath

Or so

I once

thought

But soon I'll fall

To the sea,

The star-kissed sky

The only memorial of me

And the long serpent

Below'll

Swallow me whole

And that'll be the end--

Until tomorrow...

Ooooooh! If someone had asked me to write a poem fromt the perspective of the sun, it wouldn't have been good. But you did great!

Wow, the detail is so prestine. It didn't fully register with me that it was about the sun until the last line, and then it kind of clicked. The imagery is amazing, as usual. Good job!

@Snazzycakes; Yah, it was specifically the journey of Ra. I don't think I'd ever really covered that before, so it's good thing it turned out well!

@Silver Crystal; Haha, I love when last lines click everything into place, thank you!

Lol more pining poetry, send help

This time it's an almost-tanka:

~~~~~~~~~~
There was once a time
When you were just another
Girl, but now you're more
Now I'm head over heels for
you, but will the world accept it?
Whoa. I wouldn't know for sure, but I think that perfectly captures the feeling of loving someone, but your genders making it so that the world doesn't accept it. But in only six lines! Again: Whoa.
In the verdant shade
A clear crystal pool
Lined with water-worn stones
Beneath grey-scaled sky
A girl stands alone
Adorned by glimmered reflections
and shadows of trees
In the glassy burbling
She is not
instead alone with the wind.
Through the dim
Lights blare thick and thin
And it always makes me
wonder
Whether it be in stage wing
Or in the chaos of waiting to sing
The people-filled noise makes me
Fade out
And suddenly it feels like
I'm gone, just a ghost among the living
Everything no longer riveting
Mind off to another place.
Wow, this is exactly how I feel when I'm in a crowd of people. You just kinda feel yourself disconnenting with everything and theres a lot a noise but it sounds like white noise in the back of your mind. It's always amazing how you manage to write stuff that connects to personally with people.
Thanks! I think I just spend too much time thinking and listening, but not enough talking so poetry sort of serves as a stand-in?
Sometimes night isn't for sleeping
But dancing up to the sky,
Star-secrets a-keeping;
At those times I just get spirited away
Where night-mares are leaping
And prancing, and never start to bray.
Those times where the moon sings
Her woeful, silvery songs
And we all get lost
In a maze of stars,
Where trees are golden and silver
And laden with gemstones and amber
And everyone
always
has a glorious time.
But then the dawn breaks, her rosy colours blossoming
Like cherry petals, their beauty prone to dissipate
And when I look around everyone's already gone,
Scurried off to hide, faded off with the night,
Or plain too tired to stay out any longer
And as the last of the stars
Break to retreat.
I promise I shall never
Forget about Night.
"Where trees are gold and silver/and laden with gemstones and amber" was such a pretty line. I got sorta a feel like above the sky that we see, the stars are the ground and that forest grows above it. Very asthetic :)
Covid is like a child
Sitting in the center
of
your bowling alley in the
middle of a
game,
preventing you to go forward
But like everything in life,
there is a way around
this obstacle.
You will manage to get your bowling ball past the child
and knock down
all nine pins
