What music do

What music do you listen to?

As you can probably tell from the above, this thread is about music! What songs/artists/genres do you like? My music taste changes quite frequently depending on my mood. I love a whole bunch of different genres and artists... but I don't listen to them all at once. I have "phases" that I rotate through.

Here are some I enjoy, and I'll be happy to talk about any one of them! What I listen to varies based on what I'm writing, my mood, and a certain measure of randomness. :P

- Dodie Clark

- In the Heights

- Dear Evan Hansen

- The Chainsmokers

- Bastille

- Owl City

- Jon Cozart

- Lo-fi

- Blink-182

- Regina Spektor

- Neck Deep

Right now, I'm alternating between Regina Spektor and Neck Deep, which are. Two of my favorite songs of All Time are Tornadoland (RS) and December (ND), which I'm listening to right now. The latter is so beautiful and gives off a sort of sweet, whimsical, vibe that reminds me of DEH, while still being so perfectly funk-rock. Sorry. Just, I really recommend listening to it.

OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!! ABIGAIL S., NO! YOU LIKE REGINA SPEKTOR!!??

I thought nobody knew about her! I love her! She is amazing!

One of my favorite songs of hers lately is Sellers of Flowers - the one about the roses.

I'M SO HAPPY!

And tornadoland is also really cool.

I love all of her songs.

...

AGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I LOVE REGINA! She's so amazing! I love how she writes all her songs and how they're like sung poetry. I can analyze them for days. I know that there are some other CBers who listen to her. St. Owl definitely does.

This is long, I'm sorry. I doubt anyone will read the whole thing, but here goes!

Ok, based on the artists you like, Abi, I have 2 music recommendations for you- Novo Amor and Yoste. (If you haven't noticed by now, I recommend Novo Amor on like, every music thread there is. I LOVE his music!) Both of these artists have such a calm, comforting feel to them. I love every song by both of them, even though Yoste only has... 6 songs so far? (All of his songs are named after Studio Ghibli characters... just a fun fact!)

I really like lo-fi music, although I don't have a favorite artist. I mostly just listen to playlists on Spotify.

OLAFUR ARNALDS! IS! THE! BEST! INSTRUMENTAL! ARTIST! I'VE! EVER! HEARD! I always listen to his music when I'm writing.

Then, there's the bands... Fall Out Boy, Twenty One Pilots, Imagine Dragons, and PVRIS, who I could talk about for hours! PVRIS is so. amazing, I'm in love with Lynn Gunn (the lead singer), her voice is so beautiful, and every song by them is really good. They have their own unique sound that I absolutely love. Also Tow'rs, a band I found out about because my friend saw them live at a local music festival. In IL! So, needless to say, they aren't very well known. But I love their music.

For singers, I love Halsey, Troye Sivan, Melanie Martinez, and Ruelle. And although I'm not a superfan, I like several songs by Bille Holiday, P!nk, Sia, Bruno Mars, and Khalid.

@Bluebird

It is really weird, but today my sister recommended me a song by Yovo Amor called Anatome. I had never heard him before, but the music was really pretty.

Oh gosh. Music. Hm.

I like pop--some of the super poppy, catchy songs but also the less poppy songs. I also love Lindsey Stirling and various movie soundtracks...let's see. These are some artists I like.

Lindsey Stirling

Taylor Swift

Allessia Cara

Imagine Dragons

Andrew McMahon

John Williams (because DUDE! STAR WARS! HARRY POTTER! INDIANA JONES!)

Imagine Dragons

TØP

Halsey

P!NK

Linkin Park

Adele

Coldplay

Justin Bieber...slightly.

The Chainsmokers

Ed Sheeran

And some others that I'm forgetting....

~~

A lot of these artists that aren't at the top of the list, I like a few of their songs but not entire albums. Most of them I've heard on the radio (which I play 24/7).

So...yeah. I'm a big music fan. And I just went to a Lindsey Stirling concert on Friday, which as you can tell was super exciting! I'm going to make a thread about it sometime in the next couple of days.

I like pop, too. I have a playlist on Spotify for all the really upbeat, catchy songs- for some reason, they usually can cheer me up when I'm in a bad mood. I'm currently obsessed with the song Havana, I'm guessing you've heard that one if you listen to the radio 24/7...

And I forgot Rachel Platten and One Republic.

I have a pretty boring music life, but I'll share the music I do listen to.

~Imagine Dragons

~Like 3 Melanie Martinez songs

~Sia

~Like 3 Halsey songs

~Video game songs (Rolling Sky uses songs from TheFatRat, etc...)

Yep, pretty much sums me up.

Can I ask why everyone loves Fallout Boy and My Chemical Romance and Panic at the Disco? That's not a criticism of anyone's music tastes, I just never understood the appeal of those boybands.

Who knows! I personally love Fall Out Boy because their music makes me want to get up and sing and dance, their songs are catchy, and their lyrics are relatable (For example, "I'm no good at math" from the song 'The (Shipped) Gold Standard') XD I'm kidding. I really can relate to a lot of their lyrics, though. To me, their music never gets old.
