Tuck Everlasting?

Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Tuck Everlasting?

Tuck Everlasting?

Okay, so I saw that Crutchie and Race (from Newsies!) (aka. Andrew Keenan-Bolger and Ben Cook) left Newsies! to perform in this play, Tuck Everlasting. I had never see the movie or read the book, but yesterday I listened to the soundtrack. It was surprisingly good! So, I watched it.

First of all, it's AMAZING. Gorgeous sets, cool mechanics, amazing music--I could go on and on. The casting was really good too.

Commence fangirling. Spoilers may abound.

Oh my Kyngdom the ending was sad. I'm still confused on a few things, so I'll leave the questions at the bottom and anyone that knows can answer. Please and thanks! :3 It was really sweet. The last scene really got me--and I love the toad. ;v;
I feel kinda bad for Jesse. I get why Angus, Mae, and Miles don't want Winnie to drink, and I agree with them. But I also understand why Jesse DOES want her to drink it.
Hugo is ADORABLE. As much as I'm sad she didn't drink and go with Jesse, I understand why and I'm glad she ended up with Hugo.
What are your favorite songs? In terms of favorite, I like Partner in Crime and Top of the World. In terms of songs that made me cry, Time, Time Quartet, and Everlasting.

QUESTIONS:

1. Did Hugo become deputy?! XD

2. Does Winnie tell Jesse her decision!? This has been bothering me since I saw it and I think I know the answer, but I don't like it.

3. So, Hugo died before Winnie?

4. Hugo and Winnie had a son, did they have a daughter too? Or was that Old Winnie seeing Young Winnie?

5. Could anyone see what Jesse put on Winnie's grave?

I think that's it for now. Please let there be someone to fangirl with! x3

I LOVE TUCK EVERLASTING! The book, musical, and movie are all favorites. Have you read the book? It's a classic and it should answer your questions (honestly, it's been a while since I read it). The movie is good too. The end gets me every single time! My friend watched it and cried at the end, then she told her mother about it and she cried, so we all just ended up sobbing over the story.

No, I haven't read the book yet. I just checked it out from the library today, and I'm hoping to get to it soon. I hope it does answer my questions!

I know!! I've watched it like twice already, and it always makes me cry. ;-;

By the way, as I started writing this, Hugo's First Case came on my Spotify, and I'd like to take the time to say--HUGO IS ADORABLE. Okay, I'm good.

Wait--

Flip here, flip there...

These flippin' things are everywhere!

Okay.

*Squeals* OMG-SHARP IT'S AMAZING!!!!

I read the book before I ever watched the movie, and like I can say with any book/movie, I liked the book's storyline better.  It's an interesting concept, not ever dying or aging.  It's something I'd like to try except for the fact that you can't reverse it.  I'm a mix of athiest and agnostic, so I don't really want to die, so it would be interesting to be in that story.

Haha, I like that--omg-sharp :D It took me a minute to get it, but I laughed for two minutes straight after I did xD

Yeah, the book is almost always better. Haven't read it yet, but I'm about to. Exactly, that is the part that gets me--there's no reverse switch.

Rick Everlasting is one of and will always be one of my favorite musicals ever.

And the second act always gets me. As soon as Time comes on, I usually end up crying because it's just so sad.

Another thing that's sad about it is the short run time on Broadway. Seriously, why did they have to close it?!

It's really good! Me too--although Seventeen almost makes me cry too. I basically start around Time and never stop 'til the end. Crying, that is. xD

I know!!! They literally only ran for 8 weeks! I was watching the behind-the-scenes and Andrew Keenan-Bolger said they spent like 6-7 years preparing for Tuck! Honestly, I think Hamilton killed it. It came out around the same time, and I have a feeling Hamilton kinda stole...like...ALL the sales. :( It's also much more of a kid's story, so maybe adult's didn't want to go? I honestly have no idea. It should've and could've gone muuuuuuch longer.

Tuck Everlasting.

I read the book last year, and I must say, it's probably the saddest fictional story I've ever read. My favorite character was in fact the toad. :)

The ending was so....so...... depressing. Even so, it kinda fitted the book.

Will not argue there--extremely depressing. But very good. ;)

I LOVE THE TOAD! Okay.

Whoah, whoa, whoa. Hold the phone.

THERE'S A TUCK EVERLASTING MUSICAL?!?!? AH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HOW COME I HAD NO IDEA ABOUT THIS BEFORE?!?! I must look this up now!!!

Ok, rant over. *cough* Sorry.

But, OMGOSH-I absolutely LOVE the book Tuck Everlasting!! The imagery, the characters, the storyline, the moral and message, just *content sigh* it's amazing. Every bit of it.

Anyways... I'm going to go listen to the music from this musical... because you have peaked my interest. I shall be back. *mischevious/evil laughter* *tiptoes quietly away*

Haha! Well, glad to let you know about it! I like it too--hopefully I can start the book tonight. *fingers crossed*

Well, good luck! I found it sad, but in a really sweet way. ;) And as far as I've heard, it follows the book pretty closely.

I have a story about Tuck Everlasting. We performed a play version of it(no singing) in third grade(I was Mae, and my costume was AWESOME... The actual acting, however, kind of failed- more on that in a second) after we read the book as a class. Yeah. Didn't work that well. Nobody showed up to rehearsals, and- I'll stop now. These are some painful memories.

As for the actual musical, I have not seen it but it sounds amazing. I love the soundtrack(I even sang Everlasting for a recent audition).

Aw, no singing? Phooey. xD Joking. It's cool that you were Mae (such a good character!) but sorry that it never happened. Sounds like it wasn't a very reliable team.. x3

Yeah, the soundtrack is GORGEOUS. Did I mention Everlasting makes me cry? xD It's cool that you sang it for an audition though! Hope it went well. *crosses fingers*
