Comic Collaboration!
For a while I've wanted to do a webcomic sort of thing, and now that I finally have the time I can actually pursue it!  I only want it to be in the 15-20 range of pages, as this is the first time I'm trying to do anything like this.
To do this, we need a team and it will be a kind of long process- even though it's really short.  Here are the steps as I imagine it:

1. A short story to base it off of.
2. I'll draw up a (very) basic story board, then we can swap it back and forth, write notes, writers add dialogue, edit action, etc.
3. Lineart pages and final tweaking
4. Final coloring and shading (I'm not going to do a lot of shading to be honest)

SHORT STORY CONTEST:
The story should be pretty short with minimal characters.  Really the most important part is the premise and flow; description should take a back seat.  Deadline is 30th but I'll give extensions if you need 'em.  It won't affect whether or not I choose your story, but feel free to let me know if you'd also like to join the...

TEAM:
Character Design Artist (self-explanatory)
Writers (dialogue, action flow, story board editing)
...and I'm going to draw it.  I've posted my art before, but if you want an example before committing just ask!
Feel free to join the team anytime within the process or even just pop in to make a suggestion.

If there isn't very much interest then I'll probably just let this fall to the back pages, but I hope for the best!

This is a cool idea. I'll join the writers. I'll have a short story ready soon.

This is a really cool idea, Marigold! I've never done anything like this either, so I don't have any experience, but I think it would be really fun. I'm not sure if I'll have the time to participate or not, but we'll see. I would love to if I have the time.

Hi! I'd love to be a writer/editor. What genre were you thinking of? I write a lot of short screenplays, which should be easily adaptable for comics, since the dialogue and actions are clearly and simply identified. If you like horror, I recently wrote a one-scene chilling play (entitled "Chills", haha) and I'd be happy to submit it for your inspection. If not, though, I'd be happy to write and collaborate with any genre of your choice!

I'm game for any genre!  Welcome to the team, thanks for joining!

Like Leeli, I'd love to participate but don't know if I have the time. We'll see if I can get a short story done, and if not I might hang around anyway and see if I can help some other way. I've been practicing my people-drawing skills. :)

This sounds fun. I might have to drop out eventually, but for now I'm joining.

As for the short story, what genres do people like? My stuff usually tends towards the dystopia genre, but I can pretty much do anything.

Any genre is good as long as the story can translate to a comic!

I'm not sure I trust myself to write a story fit for your amazing art and all of the other writers here, but I'm happy to join as an editor.

Thank you so much for the compliment to my art, but if you want to write a story I'd love to see what you come up with!  Either way, welcome to the team! ^u^

You're on the YWP NaNoWriMo CB classroom, right? Can I send you my horror script there? It's not because the Admins would disapprove of anything on the script; there's no violence or anything. It's a different type of horror than serial-killer slashing, it plays on the fears of what's in the dark. But I believe it would transfer well into a comic (it has 4 characters, total, and 2/3 locations; as well as clear dialogue attributed to each character.) But going back to the YWP NaNo classroom thing-- it's easier to send long bits of text. If you like what you read, then I'll certainly post it on here so other collaborators can put their spin on it! Oh, and also, if you need any Character Design Artists, I'm totally down for that! This is a great idea, by the way. :)

Oh my goodness, this is such an amazing idea!! I'll see if I can get a story in for the contest, and though I may not be able to, I still would love to join the team! I'm happy to participate as a writer (I pride myself on dialogue) or a character design artist, whichever you need more of! :)

I’d like to get into character design, and I’ll be submitting a short story!

I would love too be a part of this! I’m best at writing, so I’ll probably stick too that. What genre where you planning on using? I’m best at coming up with darker fantasy stuff, but I’m also decent at realistic. Humor isn’t my strong point, but I could try. If you would prefer a lighter fantasy of sorts, I could figure something out as well. One warning is I can’t promise that I will be extremely active-I’ve -recently- become very busy, so, if you need me too be on a lot, then I may not be the best person for the job.

If, my current circumstance (regarding how much time I’ll be able too work on this) is ok, then I’d be very glad to be a part of this project!
