Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Ski Lodge

Ski Lodge?

As Myst read the letter, she had far to many questions going through her head... on top of it all was why. Why would someone ask her to host a new ski lodge? Who would do that? How did they find me? What are they trying to find out? She stared hard at the crinkled, but otherwise neat letter, tainted by the slightly scrawled ink, across the parchment-like paper. Biting her lip, she got up, peering out at the quiet gloom through a rain streaked window pane. Hmm. It wouldn't hurt to try, right? She laid the letter down on her rough mahogany desk, listening to the patter of the feeble drizzle. Like too many people rushing around, she thought, rather absent-mindedly. It seems a bit sudden, but I suppose I could use the adventure...Or rather the opportunity... Once again glancing around the cramped apartment she had rented under an alias, and applied for with a disguise, she returned to pondering.

Then, turning, she swiftly began the preparations.

Myst had everything planned, set and ready to go. All she needed was receive the guests. Again she looked out the weathered pane of glass, the only thing separating her from the harsh nature. This time, though, the window was much larger, and reflected the dusk's faint light off the powdered precipitation, which had grown several inches within these painstakingly and meticulously planned past few weeks. Now, when she  the surrounding room, even in the dim lighting, she saw the gleam of the palace's ballroom's polished floor, both the brilliant and creamy contrasting wallpapers, the ornately designed decorations and countless gadgets and trinkets. If she wandered far enough, she'd even glimpse the personalised guest rooms, perfectly attuned to the future visitors every want and need.

A brief smile played over her dainty lips, for the first time in months, upon simply noticing how ironic her full name was at this particular moment. The time had come...

Sorry about the long wait, I've been really busy! Now, on to the story!

~Day 3

~~~
Kitten paced the halls as she headed for the atrium, so brilliantly lit. Somehow, and rather curiously, allowing little enough light so that you could the see snow drifting down, still fairly heavy, but not quite as viciously whipped to the ground as it had been for the previous day. It was past midnightnight for sure, but Kitten couldn't sleep at all. She knew it was probably not safe to be prowling the halls at night, but was too unsettled to just sit in her room and do nothing, although she had just left Breeze and Gale. Poor Soren... She thought as she meandered down another left turn, and nervously chomping on a corn chip plunged into gooey nacho cheese.
Darkking leapt off the long plank and felt the air whoosh past, then darkness... slowly submerging, with a shocking cold sensation bristling the skin. Dark promptly popped out, impressed that room 3A was large enough to comfortably accomadate an in-the-ground pool, in which he (?) had been swimming for hours. A murder wouldn't stop some of the guests from enjoying their stay to the fullest possible.
Snap! A sharp cracking sound resonated around room 7A, Leo's room. Then silence... before a soft cruching. Slumped in a rotating chair, the occupant munched on some chocolate as he watched the basketball he had been practicing with lazily loll about on the smooth, polished platform with a basketball hoop on either end. He snapped another section of the candy bar off with a satisfying crunch. Just then, a blood curdling shriek pierced the still twilight air from an adjacent room. Starting to his feet, Leo and the remaining guests gathered around the room the sound had eminated from.
Jaybells, who had been staying across the hall, clicked her tongue in dismay. Conan, her companion muttered, as he searched for a connection in the victims. Looking up at the name plate beside the door, he scowled.
Room 5A.
~~~

Well, that's all for now, but I'll try to elaborate sooner than last time! Don't forget that you can join the next round even after you have died! (Ciao!)

Day 3 -Continuation

~~~~
Cautiously pressing his index and forefinger to Jwyn's carotid artery Conan bit his bottom lip. He looked up at Jaybells with his big bespectacled blueish-violet eyes, and gently shook his head. Kitten, Sierra and Twirlgirl all gasped simultaneously in horror. Codesmith's brown eyes grew even larger, while Author 7 turned on her/his heel. Darkking as well as Jaybells' faces remained expressionless and completely unreadable. Alex, they noticed, had indeed already disappeared, and Jwyn was following suit. Soon there was nothing left but the crime scene.
Estelle, sounding thouroughly annoyed muttered, "Well, there's the second murder that you've been so desperately waiting for."
Wheeling on her, Conan could do nothing but glare, gritting his teeth, before Jaybells intervened.
"Omaira (you guys!)" She scolded, "Focus! Please go check on Viola?, Rogue, and MJ, to see if they're okay, since they haven't shown up." Conan nodded solemnly, and obediently hurried off, while Estelle and Luna rather reluctantly obliged, sulking off to check the other two rooms. Meanwhile the dwindling crowd of CBers began to disperse, as Nighthawk headed back to room 9A, speculation swirled through his mind, as he struggled to piece together who could have committed such a crime. He was so absorbed it his thoughts that he hardly even noticed that Jaybells, the last person left in the hallway, was heading towards the grand staircase, on the opposite end from her room.
Leo plopped back down into chair overlooking his personal basketball court, and picked up the half- eaten chocolate bar from earlier. He hadn't much of an appetite anymore, but he nibbled the corner off, regardless.
Myst grimaced, pausing the surveillance tape, then played it back.
There.
That was who it was.
As the realization began to dawn upon her, the door behind her was suddenly thrown open, filtering a light blinding in comparison to the dark room moments before. A sickeningly sweet smell engulfed her, and the pain in her eyes eased as her vision faded.
So they did find it....how....She thought groggily, before collapsing onto the panel board in front of her with a soft thud.
Day 3 continuation+ & Day 4
~~~~

"So how'd it go?" Jaybells whispered into Conan's ear, as he peeked around the corner to the right. He jumped, startled at her words, as she had silently slipped behind him while, he watched the halls. Judging from the dark look in his eyes, she figured the report wasn't good. "Which room?"

"10A," he informed her.

"Rougue Wilding." Jaybells concluded, frowning. "Odd, odd, even...eleven, five, ten...all female...what do you make of it?" She inquired, seemingly still lost in thought.

"I'm not sure, yet. But I saw the other two, they were fine." He suddenly stopped short and stared at her. "You shouldn't be out here, after all, you said all three victims were girls..."

"The same could be said for yourself, you're just a child of 7, so it would be pretty dangerous."

"Touché" Came the amused reply, "Fine, we'll both stay and investigate, okay?"

"Sure."

Meanwhile, most of the CBers had already locked themselves into their rooms and were trying to get some sleep. The exception was the culprit, lurking around, before using a secret staircase that specifically led to their room, ensuring that anyone who might be watching remained oblivious to their identity....

Day 4

~~~~
The next morning Nighthawk, Darkking, and MJ set out, deciding to head to breakfast together, as it might be more wise to stick with some others. As they fell out of view, climbing down the stairs that went around a bend on the right, the culprit squinted through the slim cracked opening of their door, and slunk towards the next victim.
"I wonder what happened to Author 7." Jaybells mused out loud.
"Well, the note left on the door to 1A just said that the experience was much appreciated, but had drawn to a close, right. I don't understand why the culprit would leave something like that, unless it was Viola?, and she's trying to hint at her status of the culprit being the Stickynote Queen." Her young companion jested.
Shrugging, Jaybells decided, "Well, I suppose we can just assume that Author 7 left, since he/she previously mentioned the generalaversion to death."
"Daijobu (It's okay.)" Conan assured her, his large eyes confirming his words. "Besides, we still have a bit more investigating to do, what do you say?"
"Alright." Came the rather exhausted response. With in the next half-hour, that tone would become much more alert, as soon as they discovered the 4th body, in fact.
