Rise of Skywalker

I can't believe that no one's made a thread about this yet! Who's seen Rise of Skywalker? I haven't yet but I most likely will tomorrow. I'm excitedddd

So if anyone's seen it, you can talk about it here and I will probably have thoughts to post tomorrow :P

I saw Cats, and even though it got bad reviews, I loved it!

This thread is half Star Wars and half Cats XD

OKAY SO I WATCHED RISE OF SKYWALKER! ON SATURDAY! AND I HAVEN'T BEEN MOTIVATED ENOUGH TO POST ABOUT IT YET! BUT I'M DOING THAT NOW!

*Spoiler warning*

I don't know how to organise my thoughts about this in any cohesive manner so let's just jump right in.

1) REY IS A PALPATINE??? I'm sorry, WHAT? That was pretty much the only thing I wasn't expecting for her parentage. I was really thinking she would be Leia and Han's kid or Luke's kid or something and even a little ways into the movie, there was this scene that had Rey and Kylo and I just realized how pErFeCt it would be for them to be siblings since they had Luke and Leia who were siblings and then it would be cool to have another sibling duo. But no, I guess. Also, PALPATINE HAD A KID? EXCUSE ME? WHAT?

2) Rose was super underused. She wasn't even really there. She didn't really do anything. It was disappointing.

3) FINN! WAS! GOING! TO! TELL! REY! SOMETHING! And they even mentioned it TWICE in the movie but then they NEVER SAID WHAT IT WAS and I really hate loose ends like that.

4) Reylo...ehhh...I mean...I don't know. Also, Emperor Palpatine basically sucked the life force out of Rey and Kylo and then Kylo fell down a pit and Rey exerted the last of her strength and stuff and then died, but then Kylo climbed out of the pit, and brought Rey back to life, but then he died?? Idk. It just seems unbalanced somehow. And...did they really have to kill Kylo? Couldn't they have been less lazy and actually had him reform himself?

5) You know how when you sit down to write something about a movie, and then you just forget the whole thing? That's me right now. I know I had so much more to say but I can't think of it *tears*

1) I actually loved this. It almost made sense; they gave you foreshadowing with her lightning hands; and it felt very Star Wars-y. I didn't quite have a problem with this.

2) Yup. She was with Leia a lot originally, but they had to cut lots of those parts out. :(

3) It was that he was force sensitive. He tells this to Stormtrooper girl (whose name is Jannah) later on, so you're supposed to assume that's what he was going to say.

4) So in addition to having his life force sucked out of him & being thrown off a cliff, healing Rey also reversed the time where she had healed him, adding a lightsaber impalement to Poor Little Ben's growing list of injuries. I kind of liked this in a weird way; it was kind of full circle with him being Vader's grandson and doing the whole conversion bit and then giving his own life for someone important to him. But the ship I don't like; half an hour ago you were trying to kill each other, okay.

5) I feel you, girl. *sympathy pat*

Copy and pasting what I said on NaNo about this. (Overall, I didn't think it was very good.)

Thoughts on Rise of Skywalker--

I felt like I needed another movie. There was a lot touched on that wasn't really explained, but it needed to be explained. Like they mentioned something about Finn being Force-sensitive --but then they never went in-depth.

I don't like Rey. I think she's overpowered and too good at everything. Honestly her backstory just added to her over-all Mary Sueness.

They couldn't seem to decide whether Kylo Ren was a villain or not.

They focused on the wrong characters. They should have focused more on Finn and Poe on their own, without Rey. (Because frankly I don't really think anyone cared about her.) Also, they barely mentioned Rose at all even though she was a main character in the previous movie.

I think the second movie ruined the trilogy. It was directed/written by a different person and after watching all three, I think the second movie wasn't supposed to be the way it was.

They swapped love interests for Finn constantly. First it was noone, then it Rey, then it was Rose, then it was Rey, then it was (T150? I forget her name), then it was Rose, and then it was T again.

They missed out on an epic scene. When T and Finn stayed behind to destroy the command ship, they could have done this really cool scene where they run through the ship and there's this cool gunfight in the bridge but no. No. No, they decided it would be better if they plugged in a cord, shot a cannon a single time, and then magically destroy an entire ship.

There should have been more Lando.
