Thunderstruck right outsi

Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Thunderstruck right outsi

Thunderstruck right outside your window and you let out a gasp as you were dragged from your dreams. The rain was pounding on your window, and lighting lit up your room in quick, silver flashes. You reached over and grabbed your water from your bedside...only to find that it was empty. You licked your lips, debating, is it worth it to leave your warm bed for some water? Of course it was.
You padded through the house, your bare feet freezing on the tiled floor of the kitchen. The house was shaking from the force of the wind, picture frames shaking on the wall. Maybe you should seek some safety in the basement? No matter, the storm was already subsiding as you brought your glass to your lips. Cool, freshwater slid down your throat chilling you from the inside out.
And then something happened you’d never suspected. Your doorbell rang, in the middle of the night. During a crazy storm. Sleeping was no longer an option, so you walked to your front door and opened it. Sitting on the doorstep was a package. Curious, you took the package inside.
Sitting in your favorite reading chair, with a pair of scissors in your hand, you opened the package up. Inside, sitting on a pile of clothes, was a message.
Dear Detective,
I am aware that you are retired, but I am hoping that your old outfit will bring you some interest in this case. My opal brooch has been stolen tonight and I hope that you can help figure out who did it. You will be pleased, or upset, to know that you will be having help in this case, as I have messaged the top seven detectives in the world. I know how much you detectives like your "Watsons", so you are able to bring with you ONE AE each. I will offer you a temporary home in my mansion, the Moonless Hunt. Please come soon.

   Sincerely yours, Madame Suspectum.
You held up your old outfit and grinned, a case was afoot. You had a feeling that this “Madame Suspectum” had more secrets hidden in her home than a stolen opal.

All right, cool! Hey, is this one of the ski lodges where Æs don't take up spots? Because if it is, I'd like to bring my Æ Night. But if she'd take up a spot, I don't want to prevent anyone from coming. Anyway, here's my sheet:

Gender (male/female): Female
Appearance: I have short, messy blue hair with an undercut, and blue eyes with snow swirling in them. I'm wearing a white hoodie with "OH MY COTTON SOCKS" (a video game reference) written on it in teal letters. I'm also wearing black athletic shorts with white stripes, and black combat boots.
Personality: I’m energetic, silly, and weird with friends, though I can also be a bit of an introvert. I have a temper and I can get really mad if someone’s hurting my friends.
Packing List: A ukulele, a skateboard, my current sketchbook and a pencil case (holding pencils, fineliner pens, a brush pen, and a kneaded eraser), my Ohuhu markers, my laptop, and my phone and Bluetooth headphones.

Your AE does take up a spot, but I have accounted for this. Even if you brought your AE we will still have one spot remaining (PLEASE BRING YOUR AE! I'M READY TO START).

If someone wants to bring an additional AE, please do! I really want to get this started straight away before it sinks to the bottom pages, never started.

Personality: She's a little insecure, and she tends to get nervous easily. She's very nerdy, and likes to talk about her fandoms, but she's also very introverted so she gets nervous talking to other people. She thinks she's not a very interesting person, even though she's very smart and clever.
Packing List: She's bringing a green bag with lots of badges/patches on it, which carries a sketchbook, a pencil and eraser, a water bottle, bubblegum, and her phone and earbuds.

Day One
Seven horse drawn carriages pulled up to seven different houses, with seven different goals and seven different notebooks sitting in the seats.
Seven notes with the same message: Detective, please use these notebooks to write down your thoughts and notes. Once again, welcome to the Moonless Hunt!
The carriages pulled up to a large, creepy looking mansion, high on a hill. Clouds covered the mansion and surrounding fields, sending down a light rainfall. The rusted iron gates creaked open, admitting the Chatterboxers and their AEs. The carriages circle around the circle of grass that sits in front of the front door. Each one stops and deposits a Chatterboxer, AE, and their luggage. This continues until 14 individuals are milling around the front door. One very brave CBer goes to open the large, heavy front door. To everyone's annoyance the doors are locked tight and they are forced to stand out in the rain that is slowly getting heavier and heavier.
After a few minutes the door slowly creaked open, showing the Chatterboxers a rather short girl. Her silvery-white hair was pulled up into a messy bun on top of her head and her purple glasses were quickly shoved up her nose. She was dressed smartly, in a fancy white shirt and a black skirt. Gray leggings could be seen disappearing into her black boots and around her neck was a necklace of moonstones.
“Oh dear! Was the door locked this whole time?” she gasped.
“Yes it sure was! We’ve been standing out here in the rain for hours!” an AE with black cat ears growled.
“Dynasty!” a rather flustered CBer in a pink detective outfit said, “be nice! I’m sure… uh… what is your name?”
“I am the Secretary, please come in.”
The CBers looked at the Secretary and arched their eyebrows, what sort of name was that?! Nonetheless, they followed her into the large entrance hall of the mansion.
The floor was covered in a red carpet and at the end of the hall were two staircases, each leading to the same landing.
“Please leave your luggage here, I will bring them to your rooms later.” the Secretary said, pointing to a spot on the floor, “Please follow me to the dining room. I am sure you all are starved.”
The CBers followed the Secretary to the dining room, their footsteps swallowed up by the deep red carpets and the pounding rain that was falling. Thunder filled the air, rattling the house and making picture frames shake on the walls.
They reached the dining room, to see a wonderful spread of steak, lima beans, and mashed potatoes. They happily sat around the table, eating and chatting. Business will come later. Just then a huge peel of thunder echoed through the house, the lights went out, and someone screamed.
When the lights came one, someone was missing. After searching the mansion they finally found them.
A new painting had appeared on the wall. A gorgeous scene of a small farmhouse, surrounded by strawberries and fields of wheat. Standing in the sun, holding a basket, and picking strawberries was their missing CBer.
Strawberri. Somehow she was inside the painting. Dynasty, for once, had nothing annoying to say. Ivy put a hand on his shoulder, silently comforting him. Just like that, the number was down to 13.
“What… what… why?” Moonshine asked.
“I do not know, but it appears that someone of your numbers is, in fact, a murderer.” The Secretary said softly.
“Does this mean that we have to find a murderer… and figure out who took the opal brooch?!” Agent Winter demanded.
“I fear so… I’ll show you to your rooms now. To think.” The Secretary said.

End of Day One.

Ooh cool! This is really interesting so far!

So I'm not sure if this is important, but I speak Latin, and the characters' last names translate to:

1. Unusual

2. Liar

3. Pathetic or poor

4. Quiet

5. Coward

Again, I don't know if these are important, but I just thought I'd post the translations in case it's useful. (I checked them on a few different online translators to make sure I'm right.)

Day 2, Part 2
~~~
It was another dreary, rainy day when the CBers made it downstairs for breakfast. They were gathered around the kitchen table, watching the rain and talking.
“Does it never stop raining here?!” Cynthia complained.
“It’s the rainy season, we’ll be getting a lot more rainstorms as time goes on.” a voice said, from a corner.
The CBers looked over at the stranger, how did they not realize he was there?
He smiled and bowed, “Henry Ignavus. At your service.”
“Oh, excellent.” Micey said. “We have some questions for you. Why don’t you tell us what happened the night the broach was stolen? Please be as detailed as possible. If you can remember the time that would help us as well.”
“Oh yes, I remember like it was yesterday.”
As Henry began his story, the rain began to pound down harder on the windows. The CBers watched him intently, while their AEs made jokes and talked.
I was in my room, doing some whitling, when I heard footsteps outside my door. I don’t know who was walking around, making such a ruckus, because I stayed in my room. That was around  9:00, if I remember correctly. If I had to guess, I would say that it was probably Misellus he likes to stay up late reading in the library. When I finished my piece I left my room, I nearly fell down the stairs when I noticed Dolores staring at me! So creepy!
*Henry pauses his story and shudders*
Anyway, I was down in the kitchen when Magnus came in through that door.
*Henry points to a door behind the table, it leads outside into the rain*
“What was he doing outside that late?” Bluebell asked.
"How would I know? He stared at me, muttered something about not being able to sleep, and left. This was around 10:00 I think… That’s all I remember. I went to sleep and the next morning Madame Suspectum was raging about her precious opal that was stolen."
“Hmm… Thank you for your time Henry.” Micey said.
“Hey, no prob! If you need any help, I’m your man.” Henry said, getting up from the table and leaving the kitchen.
Lightning flashed and the lights went out, the CBers screamed, remembering what happened last time the lights went out. Thankfully no one disappeared, but the Secretary had appeared in the doorway.
“AHHHH!” Night screamed.
She blushed when she saw the Secretary and looked down at her food. Dynasty began to tease her at once, but stopped when he saw the Secretary glaring at him.
“Sorry ma’am.” he muttered.
If Strawberri was still here, she probably would’ve died from surprise. Then she would’ve asked the Secretary to teach her how to do that. As it was, the AEs began to laugh at Dynasty when they reliezed what happened.
“Uh… Mrs. Secretary?” Jade asked. “Do you know if we’ll be able to meet Madame Suspectum? We need to ask her the details of the night when her broach went missing.”
“Madame Suspectum will take no visitors at this time.” the Secretary said calmly. “I do not even know where she is currently.”
“That’s very suspicious.” Jade said crossly.
The Secretary shrugged and grabbed a pastry from the kitchen. She left quickly, leaving the CBers to digest the new clues that they had.
~~~~~~~
Agent Winter, you found my secret hints. Congratulations! Your translations are correct, but I have Misellus meaning “sad”.

Day Two, Part Three
~~~~~
For the rest of the day the CBers walked around the huge mansion, feet making soft thumps on the heavily carpeted mansion floors. The CBers were looking for the rest of the mansion’s inhabitants, but they appeared to have disappeared. Detective Mice was exploring by herself, along the third floor’s hallways. There were many pictures of serious looking individuals, with white hair and black cloaks. They were obviously the old owners of the Moonless Hunt Mansion.
One picture caught Mice’s attention, of a little girl with curly, blonde hair and big blue glasses. She was the only person who had colored hair, and was under the age of 40! Mice stepped closer to the picture, reading the name underneath.
Little Rosemary, too sweet to have died so young.
Little Rosemary was holding something in her right hand, Mice pulled out her magnifying glass and looked closely at it. Balled up in her hand was a little note, which Mice was astonished to find she could pull out. On it was a note that read:
ERTQWHOUELYOGBPPYAVBLPTIVRSGBTLAHCMEQTKGCETWYO.
Mice’s heart began to beat faster… thump...thump… thump…
Here was a clue! Hidden inside the house, who had put it there, and why?
She didn’t realize that someone was creeping up behind her, didn’t hear the sound of a knife being pulled…
The CBers found her later that night, poor Mice, she didn’t have a chance. The clue she found was uncovered by Cynthia, who found it lying on the floor nearby.
~~~~~~
End of Day Two.
