Thread for Growing

Thread for Growing Artists!

This is a thread for visual artists to post their work, learn from others, and give feedback on others art!  You can also ask for inspiration. Any kind of visual art can be posted, not just drawings. Please specify whether you are okay with constructive critism or not, and please be kind with yor feedback. Don't be afraid to post your art because it's "not good enough" or "too weird." This is for artists of any level, and chances are, people will love your art and maybe help you improve it. I shouldn't even have to say this, but your art has to be appropriate.

Oh, sorry. I was "Um One of Them" As someone who does it, I agree taking photos with the computer is hard, though I meant the drawing was slanted, not the photo of it.

I think your art style is really cool, and I appreciate that you're asking for help instead of just not drawing eyes-- many people, myself included, tend to just try and hide that they can't draw something. And I agree with Feline Fantasy, drawing eyes really enhances your style; it's true that eyes are a window into the soul! I'd recommend finding a style of eye that matches your style of drawing bodies, because it will often look out of place if the eyes don't match the rest of the style (hyper-realistic eyes on a chibi body, for example, would just be very weird). Below I've included an example of how I currently draw eyes. My eye style is inspired by the artist Faith Erin Hicks, who illustrated graphic novels like The Nameless City and One Year at Ellesmere-- you could look up her art for a better version of this style of eyes XD

Anyway, this kind of turned into a wall of text, so here's my example XD (it might be sideways, sorry if it is)

Feline Fantasy and Agent Winter-

Thanks for the tips!

Agent Winter, those eyes are cool, Ill try them out :)

Feline Fantasy, I am very horrible at realistic art T^T but thanks for the compliments!

I have several versions of eyes that I know how to draw but none of them fit with my style.

If i manage to get a good Face With Eyes ill share it with y'all!

Um, why am I still typing? *abrubtly stops typing*

Hey, does anyone have tips on drawing hands and/or feet? Like proportions, shapes, how not to make them look derpy and lifeless, etc.? I have a really hard time with them, and often they either turn out as vague blobs or I hide them somehow so don't have to draw them. Would really appreciate it, thanks!

Also, tips on hair? It's not as hard for me, but it can be hit-or-miss because I kinda just wing it.

Thank you!

This is drawing I did of Alex, my AE.

I also find hands really hard, but Ive heard that lots of practice in different positions helps, and knowing the anatomy is good too. I have know idea how to really draw feet, and I just draw mine very simply. I once took a class with drawing realistic things, and I posted a hand drawing I did somewhere (Its much bedtter than most of me drawings). I missed the feet week though :(.

Sorry, I have a question. what does the whole "top" thing mean?

For some reason beyond our control, the first reply to a new thread often sends it to a back page. Then the next reply will bring it back to the front. When people want to move a thread from the back to the front, they often submit a comment that just says Top.

Or when a thread is dying and we want to bring it back, or really any thread we think needs more recognition.

So, then, how do you find it to reply "top" and brin* it back? There is a thread that I posted yesterday which I'm trying to find but I don't know where it is.

You have to click the "Submitted By" header at the top of the thread list 2 times, and it should show the missing threads.

For some reason, ever since quarantine started, I haven't been drawing very frequently. I feel like my art is horrible whenever I try to draw something. any advice? Also, am I the only person here who draws realistically (or sort of realistically)?

I try to draw realistically at least.

My sister asked if I could draw how I imagine one of the characters for the comic series she is making because she draws cartoonily and was having trouble imagining whta he might look like in real life. He doesn't have a name yet, so she calls him "The Other Guy" and I call him "Nico di Angelo." Because. She also has a character who she calls "Mable" (That will be her secret middle name, she doesn't have a name yet) and I call "Mallory Keen," and a caracter that she calls "Charlotte" and I call "Ms.Wazzborne." So, anyway, credit to her for the character. Oof, the ears are so weird and the neck shading is just bad . . . I think it looked better in real life. I like the nose though, and that's whats important. you may give constructive criticism.
