Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Lost in Translation

Lost in Translation

I loved this game when it was first posted a few years back, so I thought I'd revive it!

The rules are pretty easy:

Choose a song, find the lyrics, and copy them into Google Translate. No songs w/ explicit lyrics, obviously.

Translate the lyrics from English to another language. The less like English it is, the better.

Now translate them back to English and post 'em here. You can give us the title or we could try and guess it.

And that's it! Here's a favorite of mine, translated from English to Malagasy and back again. Any guesses? (If it's too tricky, we can try again with a different one.)

I am determined

No need to think about it anymore

If I am wrong, I am right

Look no further

This is not a bad idea

I know it's love but

If I speak to the world

I will never say

That's why I didn't tell you

And that is exactly what I should do

If I love you

Should I leave

Or should I just chase down the street?

Although it does not lead anywhere

Or will it be wasted?

Even if I know my location, do I leave it there?

Should I leave

Or should I just chase down the street?

Even if it doesn’t lead anywhere

We Will Rock You! (by Queen, I think?) Fun fact: My 5th grade class learned how to play this song on the recorder!

This one is really easy, it's hard to scramble. I can't even count how many languages I did!

I don't like anything anymore

Downtown and better than the poor and needy

They sat in the car and stared

And students who live together

Just watching what they say

Philip finds Shuiler: The man is charged

Uh-oh, but he doesn't know much

His daughters are Peggy, Angelica, Eliza

Go secretly around town to see all the kids

Work, work!

Only white!

Work, work!

Eliza!

Peggy!

Work, work!

Sisters Shuiler!

Only white!

Peggy!

Eliza!

Earn!

His father said he would go home at sunset

I do not care

Dad told me not to go downtown

So you are free

But look around, look around

The revolution will take place in New York

new York

Only white

Earn!

Too bad I want to go to war

People shouted on the spot

There is violence on our shores

New ideas in the air

Look around, look around

Angelica, remember me. what are we looking for ...

He is looking for me!

Eliza, I'm looking for an idea to work on (work, work!)

I am looking for an idea to work with! (Work, work!)

I am looking for an idea to work with! (Work, work!)

Awesome!

Awesome!

Earn!

O God! There is nothing like summer in the city

A man treats himself around a man who looks very beautiful

Sorry, ma'am, I know this is not funny

But your perfume is like your father’s fragrance and money

Why are you in the neighborhood and your favorite heels

Looking for a hedgehog that will give you this ideal?

Burr, you're out of me

Oh, so you discuss me

I believe, my dear, you can trust me!

I read Thomas Payne’s common sense

So men say I’m violent or crazy

Do you want a revolution? I want a revelation

So listen to my statement:

“It just came to our attention

All men are equal

But when I met Thomas Jefferson

Ui!

I made it to the women’s end!

Earn!

Look around, look around

Thank God we are alive now!

Look around, look around

Thank God we are alive now!

History happens in Manhattan and we are there

In the biggest city in the world!

In the biggest city in the world!

Because I read Thomas Payne’s common sense (Look around, look around) {Hey! Hi there! Hi there! Hi there!}

So men call me violent or crazy (Revolution is happening) {Hey! Hi there! Hi there! Hi there!}

Do you want a revolution? I want a revelation (New York! In New York!) {Look around, see the revolution happening}

So listen to my statement:

[

We understand this evidence to understand that all men are created equal (look around, look around)

Oh! (Happy to live now)

Look around, look around to see how happy we are to live now!

History happens in Manhattan and we are there

In the largest city in the world

In the biggest city

In the biggest city in the world!

Work, work!

Only white!

Work, work!

Eliza!

Peggy!

Work, work!

Sisters Shuiler!

Work, work!

We are looking for an idea to work with! (Work, work!)

Hi there! (Work, work!)

Hi there! (Work, work!)

Hi there! (Work, work!)

{Wow!} (Creates, creates!) (Creates, creates!)

In the biggest city

{In} The largest city in the world {The city in the world}

In the biggest city in the world!

Oh sure.

Bangla to Dutch, to Danish, Then to Greek and back to English.

yes, the wind's blowing a little cold.
And we're all growing up.
And the clouds keep moving with the wind every fall.
Peter Pumpkin just healed.

And my side is a little sad and smart.

That's why I trust some security.
yes, some things never change.
I feel like your hand.
Some things remain the same.

Like how we can go the right way

Like an old stone wall that will never be read.
Some things are always true
Some things never change.
It's like I'm holding you.

Pages are already dropping
Sven, it looks like the future will be.

Are you saying tonight you're on your knees?

yes, but I'm bad at doing these things.
Like lighting candles and pulling out the ring

[Sven:]
Maybe you'll put all the romantic things in my hands.

yes, some things never change.
Like I feel the love for him.
Some things remain the same.
Like how light the deer is.
But if I commit and I do.
I know what to say and what to do.
Right?

Some things never change.

Sven, you're under pressure.

The wind is blowing.
Is that why I'm listening to this call?
Is something coming?
I don't know if I want to change everything.
These days are precious.
They can't go.
I can't hold on right now.
But I can still go out there and get this day.

Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah
The wind's blowing a little cold.

And you all look a little older.

It's time to count our blessings.

Under the autumn sky

We'll always live in a lot of states.
It's good and represents a lot of

And I promise you, the Flag of Aneldale will always fly.

Our flag will always fly.

Our flag will always fly.
Our flag will always fly.

Some things never change.
Turn around and time's up.
Some things remain the same.
Although the future remains unknown
We're lucky we lost.
Let's go through our past.
Time passes quickly, it's true.
Some things never change.

And I got you.

I'm waiting tight.

I'm waiting tight.

I'm waiting tight.

I got you.

I woke up this morning
The man was not identified in the mirror
Now I laugh, oh, my friend, it's just me
Then I started brushing my teeth
But these are my teeth, and I don’t lift weights
You shudder when the leaves of a tree come out of the toilet.
I can’t say what that means
But not on Tuesday, but on Monday
Afternoon, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Then Saturday came to tell me
"Who is this idiot who closed the bathroom?"
You only need one person
One of the things I want is happiness. My life is like a boy's hand
It may take me thousands of miles, but I'll tell you what I mean
Then I woke up one morning
A stranger in a mirror
I smiled and said, "Oh, stupid, I'm the only one."
Then I proceeded with my odd hair
It never happened without my actions
But I can't tell you what this means
Because it's Monday and not Tuesday
No, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Then came Saturday and I told him
"Who is the man who closes the toilet?"
But he was playing with all my clothes
I must say that she looked as good as a ********** [somehow it got translated to something totally different and I'm dying].
He just wanted to be human
But this is always a good thing that a team that fails to accept it.
It always has a thousand in front of you.
***
Then it gets pretty repetitive, so I won't do the rest. I picked the song with the weirdest lyrics I knew straight off the bat if you couldn't tell (other than bad lip readings, which are actually a pretty good idea...)

This is hilarious

I have kept the letters you wrote me

Since then I have read it

I knew it was mine

You told me it was me

I thought you were mine

You know what Angelica says,

When do we know your message has arrived?

He says, notice, we are loved

He made a living

You and your words filled my mind

I have not deviated from your judgments

Do not build a palace with music

You built the church

I will also read the letters you wrote to me

I searched for answers in each line

With some kind of power

And to you it is to me

The earth can be burned up

Cross over

He has published letters for you

You told the whole world

How do you take this girl to bed

Delete your name

He has ruined our lives

You know what Angelica says

When reading your work?

He said he was married to Icarus

He stood up in the sun

You and your words add to your inheritance

Your names are unlimited

You are confused about each song

How will they see you?

You, you, you!

I erased the story

Future writers wondered how Eliza

Answer

When you break his heart

He ripped it all off

I look hot

Find out how to heat it up

The world has no balance in my heart

There is no place in the world for a bed

They don't need to know what I said

I burn memories

Emails you may have saved

All rights have been in my heart

You lost your chair in your bed

It is better to sleep in the office

Previous memories

I hope you smoke
