Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

The Chronicles of A Mysterious Figure

Entry One: Agent Winter

***TW: Mentions of Blood ***

An arrow whizzed past my ear as I breathed heavily, while I muttered a curse as I realized I had nothing to stop the bleeding of my stab wound.

I quickly ducked into a ditch as the battle raged above me.

I closed my eyes, held my hand weakly over my wound, and breathed. My ears rang as I listened to the falling of bodies and war cries of both sides.

With my free hand, I wiped off a bead of sweat on my forehead. Today happens to be the first day of winter, but for some unknown reason, it was 103 degrees.

The attacking army was well-trained for the warm weather, while my arctic country's people never had any experience with extreme heat. Half of our casualties are from heatstroke instead of war. I can't help but wonder if that's a kinder fate than failing to protect our people.

Eventually, all sound faded, including the ringing. I started to feel my life fade as I grew cold.

After sitting weakly in silence for what felt like an eternity, I decided to try to see my final sight.

Fluttering my eyes open, I slowly scanned my surroundings. Knights of both armies lie motionless around me, the breath of life long gone from their lungs.

I slowly looked up, out of the ditch. No one was in sight, the battle was over, the sun was setting, and it was... snowing?

I suddenly felt the weakness leave my body as I stumbled out of the ditch. I managed to get myself to a cliff overlooking a snow-covered field with the walls of my country's capital on the horizon of a magnificent multicolored evening sky.

Letting out a sigh of amazement, I dropped into an Indian sitting position and leaned back against a white birch tree.

I sat in silence until a voice spoke;

"Sorry I took so long."

I turned to see a teenage girl with hazel-colored skin and long, wavy angelic white hair with one of the front strands braided with silver. Her eyes seemed to have glowing miniature Northern Lights in them. She wore a navy blue hooded cloak, embroidered with silver and held together with a stunning, pure silver snowflake pin with a diamond in the middle of it. Under the hooded cloak, she wore white winter adventurer's clothes detailed with navy blue and silver. She also had fashionable boots that matched her outfit, a sketchbook tucked under her arm, and a snowy owl perched on her shoulder.

"Agent Winter..." I managed to mutter out.

The legend was real. The girl who brings the coldest season, who has protected my land from outsiders with her storms and frostbite for years, exists.

She came closer, paling as she realized my condition.

"D... Did we win?" I asked weakly.

"Y-yes! The enemy was wiped out with one of my snowstorms!" She replied nervously, "Most of your side lived. They're looking for survivors as we speak."

"Thank... you."

She stayed with me, making sure I didn't blackout until we heard others grow near.

As soon as we heard the voice of one of my good friends shout with relief, she vanished into a puff of snow and blew away in the wind, her owl flying after her.

A week later, I returned to the spot. As I looked around at the beautiful scenery in silence, I almost couldn't believe I could have died there the previous Monday, or have met a legend.

Perhaps Agent Winter was a hallucination from blood loss. That's what my friends said when I told them about her anyway...

I stopped, and picked up a familiar snow-covered sketchbook.

Flipping through the pages smiling, I knew she was real. I also knew I was never going to forget her or her owl.

She saved my life, after all.

Terribly sorry for the wait. As I journeyed to Mississippi to find WiFi, I dropped my enteries and now the timelines mixed up. I'm confident it won't mess with anything though.

Entry Two: Lazerbat

***TW: Darkness, Minor Mentions of Blood***

I ran across the rooftops, ducking under clothing lines and leaping over chimnies as the calls and threats of my following rivals echoed into the summer night air.

I clutched my bag tighter as the golden statuette peaked out of it. I have to get it back to its rightful owner, but I also have to make sure my 'new friend' escapes.

I glanced at the figure, two rooftops across from me. I winced in sympathy as a throwing star cut straight through their left arm. I couldn't help but feel a wave of guilt.

The dark-cloaked stranger sadly found themself caught up in my little debacle, as my pursuers thought we were associated due to our similar wardrobe.

My determination grew. They shouldn't have to suffer for something I did. I got us into this. I'll get us out of it.

Catching their eye, I signaled in Traveler's Code, praying that they knew the form of sign language. Luckily, the stranger understood and nodded.

I quickly threw down a few of my vials, which obscured the air with a deep fog.

Somehow the figure and I navigated close enough to talk in the fog.

"It's fine, I needed something interesting to happen." They replied after I apologized, "I'm Lazerbat, you?"

Lazerbat. I heard about him before.

He's a fellow adventurer and CBer who appeared about 100 years after the Agent Winter incident.

(I wonder how she's doing anyway. I guess I'll send her a postcard or something when my life isn't in peril.)

Shortly after the fog faded, we lost our followers in the forest.

I looked at Lazerbat and stifled a gasp of surprise.

He wore a dark cloak similar to mine but with turquoise detail versus my crimson. But that wasn't what shocked me.

I couldn't tell you his skin color, as his body was made up of shadows. His eyes were nothing but voids of shining turquoise and his cut from before glowed a light blue-

"There!" I heard a familiar voice shout.

We immediately continued to run, as we split up.

After a while, I lost the guards and eventually escaped the woods.

Worried for Lazerbat, I looked back, only to find the entire forest disappear in a dark shadow.

I smiled slightly. He'll be alright.

I'm sorry for my late reply.  Your writing is really good and I love how you describe Lazerbat.  I hope you reveal more about yourself as the entries go on.  These entries just make me want to know more about you.
