How 2 Draw!

Hey guys! So, I thought it'd be cool to do a How 2 Draw thread. Basically, people could be like, "Can I have some tips on how to draw (name of object)?" You can ask for certain styles too. Then, other people can offer suggestions. To offer a suggestion, grab a piece of paper and draw each step. So if I wanted to show someone how to draw a head, I'd draw a circle next to the number 1, then the next step next to a number 2, and so on and so forth until the drawing was finished. Hopefully, that made sense!

I'm looking for tips on how to draw eyes in a cartoony/anime-like (I guess) style. I guess a sweet-cutesy look, but also professional (ish). Also, I'm looking for tips on hands. Is there really a style for hands? I guess not. Thanks! Have fun!

I don't usually do highlights, but I did for the sake of this tutorial! I love this style of eyes because they are sooooooo customizable. You can move the pupils around, add highlights, etc... there's so much you can add or simplify!

Does anybody have a tutorial that they could make about drawing noses?

I am really bad at that...

Thanks!

What style of noses? The noses I draw are... just lines.

I have a little trick for noses, so, here we go:

1. draw this strange little squiggle that sort of resembles a squashed letter 'm'.

2. add parentheses-looking things to the sides of the squished 'm'. Make sure they curve a little underneath the 'm'.

3. shade underneath the the 'm'.

3)a. shade inside the 'm'.

4. draw two curved lines above the nostrils/'m' shape, but don't connect the lines to the nostril area. These lines should attach to the eyebrows.

5. Shade!

My captcha says burff. Let's hope no one actually throws up!!

Does anyone have any tips on how to draw short hair, or animals (specifically dogs or cats)? Thanks!

Would any of those lucky enough to have been bestowed with the arcane knowlegdge of lineart care to share some of your magic with me? It would be much appreciated.

I spend hours doing lineart pn not-very-complicated drawings, and it still isn't neat.

Also, shoes.

Well, I don't have time to make a whole how-to picture right now, but to make a sort of converse-style shoe, make like a half circle on the toe of the shoe. Then draw two lines connecting to the half circle that go up to the top of the shoe. In between the lines, draw a few Xs. You can even draw a little circle with a star in it if you want. That's it, if you want me to draw a tutorial, I can! :D

I think with lineart, you generall want to draw with your whole arm, instead of just your hand, so instead of moving from your wrist, you'd move from your elbow. Of course, for tiny details, you'd use your wrist, but I've found that if you use your elbow, it results in smoother lines.

Did I hear someone needed help drawing cats?!

Well, cats are my comfort drawings, when I'm bored I draw cats, if I don't know what to draw I'll draw a cat, I draw cats all the time.

I can't draw cats super realistically, but I can draw them cartoony.

This tutorial is how I first learned to really draw a cat, but once you get used to it you'll find that you won't need the guideing circles anymore.

Everyone here puts an amazing amount of effort into their art!! I am awed.

Meanwhile I'm just like, "Um, that eye's a bit lopsided, but I don't want to redraw it, oh well! I guess this person'll just have a weird eye. . .Huh, I don't feel like drawing the other eye cause I know it will look like crap! We'll just cheat and cover it up with hair! Hmmmmm I CAN'T GET THE MOUTH RIGHT I GIVE UP"

(Spoiler Alert: don't use me as a role model)
