How 2 Draw!

Hey guys! So, I thought it'd be cool to do a How 2 Draw thread. Basically, people could be like, "Can I have some tips on how to draw (name of object)?" You can ask for certain styles too. Then, other people can offer suggestions. To offer a suggestion, grab a piece of paper and draw each step. So if I wanted to show someone how to draw a head, I'd draw a circle next to the number 1, then the next step next to a number 2, and so on and so forth until the drawing was finished. Hopefully, that made sense!

I'm looking for tips on how to draw eyes in a cartoony/anime-like (I guess) style. I guess a sweet-cutesy look, but also professional (ish). Also, I'm looking for tips on hands. Is there really a style for hands? I guess not. Thanks! Have fun!

Hi, hi! My handwriting is really bad, but just ignore that. Uhm.. The drawing might have been a little messed up, so I can always resend the image.

I know a few people were talking about drawing hands and I think someone replied, but here's a (somewhat) step-by-step drawing for hands.

Going into the step-by-step in more detail:

1. It's perfectly okay to use references. You can use your own hand, drawings of other hands that people did online, or anything else. What not to do is to trace. Tracing is a bad habit to get into and you won't learn and improve by tracing. (I already drew a hand like what I used, but I'm just saying.)

2. Simplify in your head simple shapes that are easy to follow, such as triangles, rectangles, and circles. Following right after that, imagine lines as to where the fingers are. When the finger bends, imagine a circle to help you imagine where the joint would be located. Also, think of the knuckles and where they would be located. You can also overlap fingers and connect them. There's unlimited possibilities.

3. Then, draw the simple shapes and lines and circles onto your paper.

4. Then just refine and add your own details. I like to draw something over the wrist and a bit of the hand if it doesn't look proportionately correct. Details don't have to be too big. For fingers, I like to sketch in light circles of where the joints and articulation would be the most present. I don't tend to draw fingernails, but instead kind of make the finger pointy? (See drawing for reference.)

Tip! Fingers and hands are different for each person. Someone might have a really large palm and small fingers. Someone may have a small palm and long fingers. Someone may have small hands in general, while others have larger hands. Some people may have boney hands fingers and hands. Some hands may have prominent veins.

Another tip! Don't feel obligated to make sure that your drawing is the same as the reference. I like to change things up and stuff just so then it would be a bit different. Speaking of references, I'd advise taking a picture of your hand if you use your own hand as a reference, just so then the pose doesn't change a lot.

One last tip! Shade the hand a bit if you want either depth or a clear illusion. In the drawing I made, some fingers are to be shaded because they are not the main focus and they are behind the main focus. (That might not make sense.)

If anyone needs help with any other hand poses, you can just ask and I can try my best to help?

Hi! I need tips on how to draw clothing more realistically, like with bunched up fabric. I'm getting better at drawing, but I could also use tips on how to draw the basic figure of a person. Thanks!

Brandondon just said "dmade" oh my gosh. His first real word! Not to mention that random g... yay!!!
