Myristica Glade~

Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Myristica Glade~

Myristica Glade~

It’s late when you get home from school. You had a test today, and while you studied very hard, all the information seemed to have vanished from your mind. You took the long way back, dreading facing your parents/guardians after your poor performance on your test. However, the house is quiet. They must still be at work.

You walk up the staircase, the steps creaking under your weight. Once inside your room, you sit down at your desk and click on your writing lamp. It casts a warm glow over the light brown wood of the desk. You select a pencil with a sharp tip and crack open your notebook, prepared to write.

But a letter falls out of your notebook instead, landing on your lap. You pick it up, admiring the crisp ivory-colored envelope, the delicate black ink looping out your name, and the precision in which the envelope was sealed. You carefully slit the top with a silver envelope opener and read the letter inside.

Dear the Chatterboxer holding this,

Yes, we know you’re a Chatterboxer. But is that relevant right now? We think not.

The reason you’re receiving this letter so unexpectedly is because you are being invited, along with a dozen or so others, to Myristica Glade for a free* vacation of fun, adventure, excitement, and, quite possibly, danger. Up to three of your companions, be they AEs or CAPTCHAs, are welcome to come. You and your companions will share one of our small cabins, however if you come alone you will occupy a room in the main lodge. Fill out the attached forms for you and your desired companions. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and spots are limited. We will send a notice when spots are closed.

Your hosts,

Ms. Luna-Rae Storme & Mx. Hawthorne Storme

Yes, this is a ski lodge. My second in fact, though the first one was sadly left unfinished. Hopefully this one will be different. Feel free to guess who I am!

This is possibly the first Ski Lodge I've ever been in, although I've seen many.

Oooh I want to join!

Okay, Ava, you can join. Audrey? You can stay home alone if you want, you are fourteen now.

Absolutely not! Danger? No way!

You do realize it's not permanent, right?

So?

Alright, Audrey can stay home. She probably wouldn't be very much fun to have along, anyways.

Hey!

Violet, do you want to come?

*Sure, that sounds fun enough. I don't get out enough. Haven't met many people.*

Okay, sounds great! What about you, Forest?

I guess? That's kind of a lot of people.

Me, Ava, Violet, you . . . that is kind of a lot of people. That's fine. I think? Do you want to come, though?

Yeah.

Fill out the form, then. Why not?

Here are our forms:

Name: WordSong

Nicknames, if any: Word, I guess? I don't think anybody's ever actually called me that . . . WS maybe?

Age: 12

Gender/Pronouns: Nonbinary, they/them

CBer, AE, or CAPTCHA: CBer

Personality: I'm pretty shy around new people, but more outgoing once I get to know somebody. I'm sarcastic and I like to think funny. I write a lot. I'm very introverted and spend a lot of time alone, and one and a half hours to two hours is probably my max socializing time before I jusat really want to leave. I'm smart and I'll randomly make references to books I know or just spout random facts if I think of them.

Appearance: Quite feminine, long brown hair (about halfway down to my waist), and I usually wear t-shirts or sweatshirts. My favorite t-shirt says be careful or you'll end up in my novel. I wear leggins a lot, and a lot of my leggings have holes in the knees. I sometimes have a pencil behind my ear and am often carrying around my diary. I'm vaguely tall.

Packing List: Diary, pencils, notebook, sketchbook, several books, water bottle, several pairs of clothing, toiletries, pajamas, coat, sneakers, boots, flip-flops.

Likes: Books, kind people, beautiful imperfect things, music, words, stories, unusual takes, conspiracy theories, deep conversations, photography, water.

Dislikes: Toxic relationships, peanut butter, hot chocolate, talking to people I don't know very well, scary things.

Other: Not that I can think of!

Name: Ava

Nicknames, if any: I don't have any, but it would be cool if I did! Ave, maybe? Idk.

Age: 10

Gender/Pronouns: She/her, female

CBer, AE, or CAPTCHA: AE

Personality: Extraverted, fun. I'm kind of WordSong's innocent young extraverted side, which is pretty great. I'm happy basically all of the time, although not all of the time. That would be unnatural. I love people. I love talking to people. I draw sometimes. I write stories. Life's awesome, what can I say?

Appearance: Bright red hair, tan skin and freckles. Short. I always wear t-shirts and jeans, even in the winter because I'm imaginary so I get away with that. My hair is curly and falls down halways down my waist and I love it. My legs aren't that long but I run a lot so they're pretty strong. I love sandals and beach themed stuff and warm colors.

Packing List: Toiletries, clothes, pajamas, sketchbooks, colored pencils, actual pencils, phone.

Likes: Funny stuff, beaches, meadows, friends, laughter, soccer, fruit, dessert, books, clutter.

Dislikes: Strict people, Audrey (but actually I love her, she's just a pain sometimes lol), the cold, crying because you're sad (I cry when I'm happy a lot), people who just never come out of their rooms!!!! (WordSong, I'm looking at you), permanance.

Other: This is going to be so fun ahhhh!

*Name: Violet*

*Nicknames, if any: Lol no. Vio, maybe?*

*Age: 15*

*Gender/Pronouns: Female, she/they*

*CBer, AE, or CAPTCHA: AE! I'm WordSong's smart, logical, careful side.*

*Personality: I talk to people sometimes, I guess. I like the beauty of small pieces of time, which is why I love photography. I like to see the reason for things. I can suspend my disbelief for stories, but when something weird is going on I will most likely try and formulate a theory. I don't get worked up. I can be happy, and I can be sad, and I can feel other things, but I don't show it as intensely as WordSong or Ava or other people.*

*Appearance: I actually don't have a very developed appearance. Pale skin, with a pretty long dark ponytail. I wear glasses. I have a few freckles across my nose. I'm slim and tall. I often wear polos and skirts. I walk purposefully.*

*Packing List: Toiletries, clothes, pajamas, calculator, notebooks, pencils.*

*Likes: Math, logic, phography, art, seas, novels, poetry, being alone, pasta, things that make sense, debates, learning, long words, simple beauty, my family.*

*Dislikes: Emotion-driven arguments, things that don't make sense, not doing anything, dull pencils.*

*Other:  Thank you for giving us this wonderful oppertunity, I am so excited!*

Name: Forest

Nicknames, if any: N/A (For? Est? Ore?)

Age: 16

Gender/Pronouns: Female, she/her

CBer, AE, or CAPTCHA: Kind of an OC? Imaginary friend? Type thing? I'm a character WordSong made up when they were very little, but never made a story for. I follow them to school sometimes, running alongside their car.

Personality: I'd say I'm more sad than not. Not a bad type of sad though, if that makes sense. I lost both my parents and I don't have many friends and I just - I get lonely or nostalgic and I have nothing better to do so I write poems or something. Idk. I'm not smart like Violet or cheeful like Ava or arrogant like Audrey. (No one likes Audrey except Audrey) (That's not true - Ava loves Audrey. We all love Audrey, really. But we also can't stand her, if you know what I mean?) I'm not really . . . special? I was never really given a personality when WordSong I was young, just a description - I'm a MiraGirl, which means I can basically do anything physically. I can run way way faster than the speed of light and I'm super strong and stuff. But then WordSong got older and piled all of their emotional problems onto me lol. So . . . idk. I'm not that fun to hang out with, but I like to talk to people sometimes.

Appearance: Pretty tall. Average looking, to be honest. Basically WordSong but older.

Packing List: Clothes, toiletries, pajamas, notebook, pencils.

Likes: Running. Going places. Talking. Poetry. Images. Not feeling bad about life.

Dislikes: Oversweet foods, oversweet people, lounging in my room all day, being ignored or forgotten (I was nearly forgotten for this thing but WordSong remembered me which was nice), fake smiles.

Other:  I . . . I don't know. I'm excited. I haven't gotten out and done something in forever.

So, yeah! That's my motly group. So excited! I'm not going to proofread because that would take forever so I apologize for mistakes that I most likely made.

Day 1 -  Morning

The guests arrived at Myristica Glade in a purple all-terrain double-decker tour bus at promptly 9:00 am. They swarmed out of the bus, dragging their suitcases behind them, bags slung over their shoulders, buzzing with excitement. That morning, they'd all awoken to the very loud and persistent honking of the bus outside their house. Rubbing the sleep from their eyes, they stumbled to the front door, grabbed their luggage, and called drowsily for their AEs and CAPTCHAs before tripping out into the still-dark world. The drive had been fairly uneventful, except for when Loki had gotten motion sick and vomited, and the guests were all eager to start their vacation.

Once they got off the bus, the guests looked around in awe. They were standing in a warm, sun-drenched forest clearing with soft green grass and small wildflowers growing at their feet. Past the clearing, dense forest. In the center of the glade was a large wood-log lodge with three gabled roofs and wide windows. Surrounding the lodge were several smaller one-room cabins, each with their own porch. To complete the scene, two people stood on the lodge's porch. One looked rather annoyed, while the other was excited for the guests to arrive. They descended down the steps on the porch to meet the CBers, AEs, and CAPTCHAs.

The woman cleared her throat in a very attention-grabbing manner and told everyone to please settle down, they had business to get on with. It took several minutes to get the CBers, AEs, and CAPTCHAs all in an orderly line, and then another several minutes for the introductions to be made.

"I'm your host, Luna-Rae Storme," the woman announced. Her hair was a wavy strawberry blonde and fell in waves over one shoulder, and her skin was light and freckled.

"And I'm your other host and Luna's sibling, Hawthorne," explained the other person. They looked quite like Luna-Rae, actually, but with shorter hair, tanned skin, and more freckles.

"Now, I'll be taking all your devices, please," Luna-Rae instructed. Pancake, pangolin, Corrigenda, Tsuki, Spontaneity, Kitty Cat, Firefly, Silver Crystal, Topaz, and Ava all handed over their devices, some with more resent than others.

"See? I told you bringing a walkie-talkie was the better idea," Spontaneity said, who still got to keep at least one of her devices. Tsuki rolled her eyes.

Luna-Rae looked at her pocket-watch, an old, golden thing, with roman numerals etched onto the white face, kept in perfect condition. "We're already two minutes behind schedule," she said, pinching the bridge of her nose. "Let's get on with the tour already."

"First, I'll lead Pancake and Kitty Cat to the main lodge while Luna-Rae gets everyone else situated in their cabins," Hawthorne said.

Kitty Cat and Pancake left with Hawthorne, bringing with them a shiny lilac suitcase with lots of vinyl cat stickers on it and an embroidered pastel duffel bag, respectively.

Everyone else went with Luna-Rae to see the cabins. Each CBer and their companions got a cabin to themselves. The cabins had a small porch with a few wooden chairs and a table. Inside, the cabins had one room with bunk beds, and a bathroom and shower attached to the side.

Kitty Cat and Pancake got rooms next to each other. Each had a bed, window, and dresser, with the bathroom and other necessities right down the hall.

Once everyone was settled in, the two groups met back up outside the lodge. The guests were lead into the lodge first. Beyond the large pine front doors of the lodge, there was a large room with high ceilings, wide windows, and a carpeted floor. Armchairs, beanbag chairs, couches, and small tables were places throughout the room. "This is the common room. You'll report here at the start of every day and before meals, during free time if you so desire, and in case of any emergencies," Luna-Rae explained.

Hawthorne checked their paper with the schedule on it again, and then lead the group into the dining hall. There was a long oak dining table, with benches on either side. A man with olive-toned skin and peppered hair was setting the table for lunch. He introduced himself as Myristica Glade's cook, Rowan.

"On that note, why don't you all take break for lunch?" Rowan suggested, and everyone thought that was a very good idea.

Luna-Rae smiled. For once, everything was going smoothly.

And so it begins. This part was a little boring and not much happened. I just wanted to get to the introductions and try to feature everyone.... Anyway, I promise the next part will be a lot more interesting.

Comments, suspicions, and diary entries are welcome and appreciated! Remember I haven't been guessed yet!

Aww I thought bringing the phone was going to be a good idea.

So glad I didn't bring any devices. That would've been so awkward.

*That was so good! You're a great writer. I'm so excited for future parts!*
