Ski Lodge - Red Moon Ledge Resort

You sit shivering, wrapped up in a fluffy blanket, and wishing for hot cocoa. The canister is, unfortunatly, empty. Alone and thirsty, you huddle miserably on the couch.

The fireplace in front of you glows with an unearthly indigo flame. An envelope addressed to you floats above the hearth. You slit open the paper and read the letter insde, handwritten in red ink.

(See comments. If the letter is not visible yet, be patient. It will be shortly.)

Day 2, Part 1
Sterling sketched their room, with its blood-red carpet and dark curtains. It was a bit over the top, and Peri and Rogue seemed overly enthusiastic about the gothic decor. Sterling was suspicious–of everyone, not just their roommates–as three guests had already died. Sure, Aurum and Argentum said it was an “accident,” but why were there procedures for murder? Was Red Moon Ledge Resort a murderers’ hotel or something? Sterling was more curious than scared, and they feared boredom more than anything. Of course, they were sad Pancake, Bagel, and Waffle were dead, but nothing could be done about that now.
Sterling was glad they had a rapier as protection. The shiny, silvery metal sword rested in the open wooded violin case by the side of their bed. Standing up, they picked up their sketchbook, closed the disguised rapier case, and strode out of their room. They had some planning to do.

Periwinkle and Rogue glanced up from their card game in the TV area as Sterling walked by. “Hey, I’m going to go get some breakfast. I, um, could get something for you?” they mumbled.
Peri simply answered, “Eh, I’m not that hungry.”
“Why are you talking to me?” Rogue glared at Sterling.
“Never mind.” Sterling quickly ran out the door. Rogue frowned in suspicion. Why had they just dropped the subject? Something was up.

Ugh. Sterling hated talking to people they didn’t know well. Either the person would be waaaayyy too talkative and be all smothering and not let Sterling talk, or else they were mean. Annoyed and preoccupied, they almost slammed into Alizarine in the corridor. “Sorry!” they exclaimed. Alizarine declined to answer, instead quickly gathering up a few dropped items. She finished too quickly for Sterling to see what they were. “Don’t worry,” she said, and then rushed away. That was odd. Sterling made a note on the back page of their sketchbook.
Unnerved, they went back to their room inside Suite 2 and sat on their bed. That was enough social interaction for one day. With not much else to do, they tidied up, closing the empty violin case, placing the sketchbook carefully on the shelf, and pulled a teabag from their endless supply. A nice cup of tea was perfect for the chilly, odd morning.
Later that morning, Alizarine went to talk to Aurum. “Can I help you?” she asked.
“I’d like some firewood.”
Aurum nodded. “Sure, there’s some right outside the back door.” Alizarine thanked her and headed for the alleged stack of wood. Sure enough, in the snow, underneath a grey awning, was a pile of neatly arranged logs and kindling. She gathered up some and went back inside.

Back in her room, Room 4, Alizarine set up a teepee shape in the fireplace.
She pulled a match out of her pocket, glad she seemed to have found all of them. Striking it, she carefully held it up to a piece of lint, which caught easily. Just as she finished, the FAX machine in the corner began beeping.
Alizarine wasn't expecting a message. Without the button being pressed, it spit out a piece of paper. She picked up the sheet and stared curiously at it, but all it said was “10.”

Inside Suite 2, on the blood-red carpet, real blood seeped into the fabric. It would have stayed unnoticed, except for Periwinkle’s scream upon seeing her AE, dead, with a rapier in her torso. Rogue was dead.
