You're tucked deep under your covers. Branches scrape your window. The clock reads: 6:00am. Little do you expect that soon you will be awakened...
There is a slithering noise and something cold brushes your hand. You jerk awake and stare, frozen, at the long, smooth body that is coiled around your hand.
A snake.
Your mind goes blank. You can't remember what to do when a snake is threatening you. But wait. This snake is carrying something, which it drops gently on yur blanket before slithering away, out a crack in the floor and into the dawn air.
You slowly pick up the thing it dropped. It's a gem, but when you twist it it pops open. there's a little note inside. You unroll it. It reads:

You are invited to spend the month in the Sundarbans, a mangorve-filled, fascinating jungle with many creatures to observe--such as tigers, dolphins, and monkeys. There is danger too, of course, but not if you know the places to avoid.

Luggage: an unholy amount of bugspray, waterproof nature guide books titled things like how to survive a tiger attack, 101 deadly plants and what to do about them, and the mystery of mangroves: DA SPAGHETTI TREEZ, several notebooks, and a dagger with a very sturdy, high-tech faical recognition sheath, and medical equipment
Greatest fear: mostly tornadoes, thunder, hurricanes, and lightning, but swarms of venomous bugs are a close second, not freaking out or anything, just really creepy!
