Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Recommend-a-Song . .

Recommend-a-Song . . . thing!

You know all those song recommendation threads? This is different. This is manageable, instead of lists and lists of songs. We all know picking through those can be overwhelming, yeah? Well, the solution is now. (Been meaning to make this thread for a while.)

How it works is, one person posts the name of a song they really enjoy, and its artist. They give a brief description for it (what type of music it is, how it makes them feel, etc.).

Then, if another person wants to post their own song recommendation, they must first listen to the most recent recommended song, and say what they thought of it on their post. Only then may they add their own song.

That way, we're less overwhelmed, and we can know that other people, somewhere out there, are listening to some of most favorite songs for the very first time. Is there any better feeling?

I'll kick us off with Red Eyes, by The War on Drugs. I would classify this song as indie/alt rock, but in a soft yet intense way. Best listened to in a car, on the highway, on a day with a pale-blue sky and enough clouds to feel like you're flying. Kind of wistful.

If you've got any questions, I'll make an attempt to answer them. I hope I was clear enough. With that, let the musical discovery begin!

This is a great idea!  I just listened to your song and it's going on half my playlists now... thanks for the recomendation!  Love the laid-back, wistful feeling.

My song is 2/14 by The Band CAMINO.  It's got this upbeat, catchy indie pop sound.  To give an oddly specific description, it's the sort of song that would play in an indie teen movie when the maybe friend-maybe love interest is with the main character.  Best listened to when you're dancing alone in your room.

oh this sounds fun! I listened to 2/14, and it's pretty good! I enjoyed it.

my reccomendation is Strawberry Fields Forever. I've been this in an SI before, but I freaking love this song. In my opinion it's the Beatles at their finest. It's very eerie, and kind of dreamlike, almost. I don't know how to describe it.

Lady, by Ursa Major! Wlw rep(i think, it's a woman singing about another woman romantically so...) and it's so pretty and upbeat at the same time that it's kinda sad :(

My recommendation is Hillbilly Girl, by Lisa McHugh. It's partly Irish-influenced and a little country-influenced (although it doesn't sound much like typical country). It's a very lively, energizing, carefree song. When I listen to it I feel super happy, so it's good to listen to if you need a little spark of excitement or just happiness, but really it's good for anytime. Lisa McHugh has a really pretty voice, and the music itself will probably have you dancing in no time.

Please tell me what you think of this song, it's one of my favorites ever and I'd love to know other people's thoughts about it!

Savage by Bahari; it has salsa undertones, nice vocals and really gets me in a dancing mood. I guess it's probably pop music? Idk really; but I really love the metaphors and imagery Bahari employs, it just sounds and feels really satisfying
