All Creatures Great

Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

All Creatures Great

All Creatures Great & Small!

Finally the first two episodes of Season 3 are out! I mentioned this TV series on Random Thoughts/Things a few months ago, and saw that lots of CBers have been watching it, so I thought it would be fun to have a thread about it now that Season 3 has begun.

Who's your favorite character? Do you think James is going to enlist in WWII? Is Tristan really going to fall in love and *gasp* get married? (He was the one who caught Helen's wedding bouquet at the end of Episode 1, which seems like a Definite Sign.)

(If you haven't watched the series, it's a super funny, entertaining one about a Yorkshire vet in about 1940 and his eccentric employer, as well as having a whole host of other endearing and interesting characters.)

I've been watching season 3! It's great so far. I like that it's very relaxing and funny, but has enough seriousness to keep it interesting.

My favorite character is probably Tristan, he's a very good comic relief. Mrs. Hall is also amazing. She's clearly smarter than everyone else combined but just laughs at them on the side and tries to point them in the right direction.

I've never watched the show, I but I've read all the books. However, that was a while ago, so I don't remember it very well. I know I liked it though.

Oh yes, I love this series! Although the second and, so far, the third, seasons haven't been quite as good as the first season. But at least James and Helen finally got married! Oh dear. WWII. I don't think James will go. However, with Siegfried and Tristan... who knows. I think Tristan will get married, although again, it's difficult to say. The trouble is that, if they all get married, the series will either have to end or it will have to keep switching from house to house - it will be difficult to tie it all in. *sigh* I hope it keeps going for a while!!

What a coincidence, I'm reading the book right now! I love James Herriot. It's like the nicest, funniest show ever. I've seen the first season but my library doesn't have the rest. I love the beautiful scenery and filming they're doing with this new version. Have you seen the older version too?

I've never read the books... I did read the story by James Herriott that was in the December Cricket issue, though. I liked it, I should read the actual books at some point.

Yeah, the scenery is really pretty! I like basically everything about the series. I think Tristan is probably one of my favorite characters, since he's sort of funny, like Lupine said. And also I like Mrs. Hall :)

I haven't seen the older version... is it good?

I hope your library can get the second and third seasons soon! I'm watching the third season on the PBS website (it's open to everybody who lives in the US, I believe). Maybe you could see it there too?

The older version is good too! Either version and in the books, Tristan is soooo funny :D I was reading it in English today and kept almost choking trying not to laugh lol!

Speaking of British things, have you seen the Great British Baking Show?

No, actually I haven't... what's it about? (Baking, presumably :))

I really have to read the books someday. I love funny writing!

Yes, baking lol. It's like a contest where they have to bake the yummiest thing of what the judges tell them to. *Sighs* mmmm

I used to have a collection of some of his stories for kids (including I think the one that was in Cricket last year) and they're good. I'm not sure where the book went, it may be in my shed in a box somewhere. The beautiful scenery is one of my favorite parts of the show! All the low stone walls and the emerald countryside...I want to go to England.

Tristan and Siegfried are my favorite. They're funny by themselves but together they are unstoppable. Haha just kidding.

I'd say they don't get along too well, to say the least - have you seen Episode 5 yet? :0

Btw, are you new to the CB? If you are, welcome!
