Genre WPs! (Genre

Genre WPs! (Genre Written Picturings) (Yes, I did just call it by a different name so you'd click on this, but hey, it worked).

Written picturings, but with a twist. Give your name, pronouns, and a genre you want it to be in.

Examples are fairy tale, epistolary, Camp Half-blood-style, [insert author/book here]-style, etc. I could even throw in a few book references if you want. (No promises on that second-to-last one, however—my Riordanaverse is pretty rusty. I could still try, but it might be pretty rudimentary. I'm better at Harry Potter.) Be creative! I'll do my best to do the style justice. Fair warning: it might take longer if I have to go read a book first to get your style (not saying I want to do that every time, so try to keep the books more well known, I guess?). Maybe also specify if you want more of a story-vibe or just a stand-there-being-described-vibe. Up to you, this is kind of a sketchy prompt :)

Of course, if you want to disregard the genre prompt totally, that's okay too, but still give name & pronouns.

I did have a written picturings thread but I neglected it and it died a while ago. This is my attempt at making another because I enjoyed writing them. Hopefully this'll be more nuanced than my last thread, which I thought was pretty repetitive.

We'll see how long this lasts, shall we?

wait what this is such a cool idea tho--

i'm very curious to see what an epistolary picturing would look like. pangolin, she/they (meaning, you can alternate between the two from sentence to sentence, or you can just use she/her or they/them)

Wildsong, here's yours. Hope you like it. I'm not sure how I feel about it.

& everyone else, yours might take a few extra days due to the immense amount of essay that's waiting for me, but I promise to get them done.

@Pangolin, ty! I'm also curious. Not that I know how to write it or anything, ofc. That would be to sensible of me.

Spacetime is a curtain. It can be parted.

It can be thrown aside with the swish and flick of a wrist. It can be pulled gently up at the corner to peep through the fabric of stars. It can be shuffled to the side in one large sweep, majestically shimmering and sparkling with the secrets of darkness.

It can be moved, the celestial cloth swishing with the silence of eons, to reveal the starry-eyed girl reflected and backlit in the starry-skied scene.

The stars halo around her onyx hair that somehow glistens in  its darkness, bouncing back the softly gleaming rays. Her braid is raised slightly from her back, whipping gently in an imagined breeze. Her eyes are a deep blue that glimmers with reflections of the stars magnified a hundredfold into wise contours. Her skin is dark and smooth, warm yet shadowy. She wears a long graceful blue robe, stars embroidered in shimmering golden thread. It moves with her as she sways gently to music only she can hear.

She’s hovering in the nothingness, peaceful and at ease: in control. She knows she has cosmic powers at her disposal. At the twitch of a fingertip—something wakes, stretches, explodes into a brilliant supernova whose light will take millions of years to reach her eyes.

But it doesn’t matter the time it takes: this astral girl will be waiting.

Hawkstar, here's yours.

~~~
There was a time, once upon a once, before human came and wrecked all that was peaceful and beautiful, when animals ran wild with no fear except that of each other. There was a time when the forests were a place of sun-dappled trees and shady corners, of mossy vales and tall pines.
There was a time when the queen of the forest was a fae, with sun-bronzed skin and silky brown hair. She had wide green eyes as deep as the moss on a sunny day, that sparkled like the sun glinting off the brook and saw as sharp and as far as an eagle. She wore a dress of plants, wrapping around her limbs like a soft hug, cocooning her like a caterpillar until she turned into a butterfly. But she was a butterfly, flitting around on dew-bright wings, running with the wind and standing with the trees, sleeping with the wolves and playing with the foxes.
There was a time when there was trust, and love, and warmth associated with this fae-girl. This fae-girl who could heal a hurt paw, who could warm a chilled pup in the dead of winter, the smallest of the litter. A force of nature in her own right—softer than fresh moss, faster than the wind, quieter than the moon, warmer than the sun, more powerful than the rushing river.
There was a time when she was queen of her own world of creatures, and maybe—just maybe—there’ll be another time when she comes back.
The forest is waiting.
Pangolin, yours fit better as an image, so I've attached it here. I had a lot of fun with this one! Ignore that fact that you're probably dead in it—MINOR DETAIL.
I'm sorry these are taking so long! I'm busier than I thought I was, and I'm terrible at getting myself to actually sit down and write them. I'll get to yours, Silver & Rainbow, as soon as I can.
