Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

I've always wanted

I've always wanted to be in some sort of on-stage production, but every time I try, something makes it so I can't do it.  Not like I can't because I'm scared (though I am), but because something physically gets in my way!  OK, I admit, when I was younger, it was because I'm EXTREMELY shy, and I still am, but I'm willing to get over that if I was given a chance!  Nowadays, it's mostly that we don't have enough money for me to take classes.  I do take singing classes, but it's so small that it's in my teacher's house, and three of the four students (one of the three being me) are people I already know! (One is my cousin)  When we have recitals (I get really nervous) they're in my teacher's living room, and only have parents.  I LOVE my classes more than anything, but I want to try other stuff too!  Everyone thinks I might be good at dancing or acting, but how am I supposed to do those?  I also want to try a musical instrument, but I can because not only do you have to pay for lessons, but if I want to play for a long time, I'd be better off buying the instrument!  Please help!  I've been stuck like this for ten years!

Cry

One more thing, how can I make myself shake less when I'm nervous?  It's a bad habit, and it makes me embarrassed, which makes me shake MORE!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, I always write WAY to much!

Laura, try eating a banana about an hour before you perform. A good friend once told me that the potassium in it will help calm you down.

Ask a music teacher about an instrument. The teacher may know of a way you can rent or buy a used one cheaply. Some schools even own instruments for students to play.

Yay, Laura! Follow your dreams! I'm sure you're a talented person; you can do it! Talk to your mom about it! (Unless you have already, and she doesn't know what to do, and your last choice is to talk to us about it and see what idea's we have!) Maybe she can help you. You can calm down by thinking that you're the only person in the room (except for the other actors) and just be calm.

Hope this helped!

Any instrument?  The recorder is cheap and easier to teach yourself (I taught it to myself and I'm good enough ((I don't mean to brag)) that people think I've taken lessons).  The harmonica is cheap and relatively easy to learn, but you need to know how to play the blues style, which is challenging.  Really though, learn the recorder!  I love mine!  I'd be so sad without it! :D

Well, I actually tried the recorder in regular school, and was able to play hot cross buns not very well. I'm more intrested in other instuments though, but thank you!!! I want something that I can impress my cousin with!! She used to be my BFF but then she started excluding me, and now she just plain ignores me... sorry, I'm a little angry at her. :)

Oh, don't worry about being angry with you former BFF.  I do that to my "friends" all the time.  Pretty much the same thing happened to me, as it did to you... :(  Learn the harmonica!  That can impress anybuggy! :D

I would be angry at her too! Is she older or younger? Or the same age. I have a cousin who's about the same age except she looks WAY older. Even though I'm a couple months older. I would be SO angry at her if she ever did that to me!

Yah, I guess. The worst part is, she usually does it when my other cousins are around, so then when it's just the two of us, half the time she acts the same, but then the other half she acts like everything was the same between us as it always used to be!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UGH! I hate it when people do that! It's mean, stupid, and heartless! Laura, I'm sure you'll grow up to be a MUCH better person than her! You care about everyone! (At least it seems like it.) Avoid her as much as you can, and if she tries to talk to you, like when you're alone or something, tell her how you feel, and tell her that if she wants to keep acting the way she does, and if she keeps acting like that, then tell her you don't want to see her ever again. (Or you could do it in a nicer way.) Yup!
