I LOVE "The Star Shard," too! It's one of my fave stories ever in Cricket. My favorite character is Loric.

Yeah, Loric rocks! I think Cymbril is too pessimistic. It's almost like she doesn't want to escape. And in the second part, it seemed like she didn't like Loric. I snuck a peek at what's going to be in September's issue, and it says that Cymbril will learn the power of the Star Shard. It's so cool! I can't wait!

I'm not trying to be a party pooper, but I don't really like "The Star Shard." The boat/machine/car that the main character lives on seems (to me) like a totall play off The Wind Singer, one of my favorite books. Also the story seems a little vague, but whatever floats your boat.

I'm always drawing elves and other mythical creatures, so what I really like about The Star Shard are the fantastic illustrations!

Hannah,

In September, Emily Fiegenschuh, illustrator of "The Star Shard," is going to show how to draw some of the characters. It will be on the Web site. And I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Love,

Yeah, I really like it too. It makes me impatient to have to wait for the next installment.

Actually, I really liked this issue in general.

TMFA, does your name relate to the mathmatical formula or the verbs of the alphabet?

I agree with Julia; Cymbril doesn't really act like a real girl.

I love the story but I think the illustrations are a little weird.  Did anyone else notice that Loric's eyes looked kinda creepy?

By the way, does anyone else suspect that Loric is Cymbril's brother and that her parents are still alive?  I'm not sure or anything.  It just seems that way.

I dunno. Cymbril doesn't seem very Elvish, or show signs of any of the special power-like things that Loric has.

Yeah, but maybe they are half-brother/sister?  At one point a kid in the crowd asked if Cymbril was Loric's sister.  And, where would she get the Star Shard (I'm assuming that's the stone?) and the hairpin from her mother?  They certainly seem Elvish!
