ADMIN Q AND

ADMIN Q AND A THREAD

For the first week of Admin Appreciation Month, we are doing a Q and A thread! Ask the Admins questions and, IF THEY WANT, they can answer them!

By request of the Admins, we politely ask that no one ask any questions that are personal or could ruin the Admin's Anonymity.

Our question:

When approving threads, have you ever seen a thread that outright made you laugh, say "What?", or otherwise caught you by surprise? Thank you!

Oh yes! Some comments make me laugh out loud the moment my eyes set upon them!

I know you've probaby been asked a million times...

but...

CAN YOU TELL US THE BLUE MOON ICE CREAM STORY PLEASE???

Oh, sure! I had seen blue moon ice cream in a sweet shop in Wisconsin, but never tried it. (My favorite flavors are mocha, coffee, and any kind of chocolate.) Then someone mentioned blue moon ice cream on Chatterbox. I looked for more information about it online and found conflicting stories that it had been invented in both Michigan and Wisconsin. Then one day I found it in our local Illinois supermarket, so I bought it and had a taste. It's fruity, reminding me of Juicy Fruit gum.

Soon my neighborhood had a potluck block party. It was October and got dark quite early. The buffet table was in a neighbor's backyard. When it was time for dessert I went home to get the blue moon ice cream and put it with the other desserts. I then began to hurry across the yard to tell a friend I had just put the blue moon ice cream out and come quick before it was all gone. BUT, as I said before, it was dark, and in hurrying across the yard I wasn't watching my feet. I tripped on a beanbag game (the wood box with holes cut in it) and fell, gashing my leg and breaking my right wrist and I'm right-handed.

I'd never broken a bone before! It was a tough reminder to be more careful, and I've never bought or even tasted blue moon ice cream since! Back to mocha, coffee, and chocolate!

Soooooo, I guess it's an ice cream superstition. Huh, that's funny.

@Admins That's an awesome story! I've heard it before, but it never gets old. Can I ask you two questions? 1: Which threads usually have the comments that make you laugh the most? 2: Are there any CBers you find particularly hilarious, and am I one of them? (lol I just needed to know that)

I get a real chuckle out of some of the stories on Down to Earth! There's not one thread in particular on there that makes me laugh, more like different stories sprinkled throughout. And of course different CBers make me laugh at different times—you included. -- admin

Haha, thanks!

I have another question: are there certain CBers you remember by certain things, or connotate with something, like a certain speech pattern or a post that stood out in your mind? Sorry, this is a kind of weird question.

Would asking about favoeite books or movies ruin anonymity?

Not at all. Let's see . . . I like a lot of different books but some favorites of mine are Binti, by Nnedi Okorafor and Power of Three, by Diana Wynne Jones. As for movies, I love musicals! -- admin

Question for the Admins: Do you prefer when people submit long stories in one comment or in multiple separate ones spaced apart? Also, do enjoy reading our writing?

It's really the same amount of reading for us, but it is a bit easier to parse when long stories are broken up into a few separate comments. And of course! We enjoy seeing you all being so creative. :) -- admin

I don't have any questions now, but reminder to all of y'all to put @admins or "to the admins" or something when you want to ask them a question. Otherwise they won't know it's for them!

@Luna-Starr I'm posting your comment with @Admins in front of it so they'll read it--

Not  really. I  remember  many  CBers' names  and  certain  stories  and  poems , but  I  don't  remember  who  did  what .

  • To the Admins

Say you were a normal CBer. What Chatterbox section do you think you would post on the most and why? Doesn't have to be a really complicated answer, just curious since there are so many amazing parts of the Chatterbox.

Puddings Place,  because I love the arts, and Blab about  Books, because I love to read.

@Admins— if you were a cber, what would you call yourself? Like, what would your chatterbox name be? Or would you be more likely to use your real name?

Oof, I'm terrible at picking names. The last time I had to pick a username I just used two things on my desk. So, with that precedent . . .  Tin Frog. --admin

Question for the Admins: is there a new CAPTCHA generator/program? They always used to be four letters, but this one I have now is five and has weird reflection-y things of the letters.

Our webmaster upped the difficulty because Chatterbox has been getting a lot of Spam the last few weeks.
