RAKING ADVICE!

(This question was submitted by Majestic Mary!)

First of all, don't rake up the grass. Try and keep the rake a few inches above the ground, so you only get the leaves and not the grass.

(Majestic Mary)

do it as a family, it's more fun that way. :)

(Luna-Starr)

Don't let your dog, siblings, or possibly your CAT get in your leaf pile and jump in it, only do that yourself, so you can have all the fun.

(Emekittycon Kitten)

(All Floof tips from AARP)

Make sure to wear layers, especially if you’re going to be outside for a while. You’ll warm up from doing the work, so don’t be afraid to peel off a few.

Warm up before you rake. Raking uses almost all the muscles in your body according to James Weinstein, chairman of the Department of Orthopedics at Dartmouth Medical School, so it’s good to do a couple of stretches before you work.

Eee! Excitement! And wonderful tips, everyone, especially since raking is a popular pastime of mine! But enough adult stuff like save-the-dates and chore discussion. Let’s get onto the

SEPTEMBER JOKES!

What do horses eat on their pancakes?

Maple STIRRup!

(Emekittycon Kitten)

British people: We call it Autumn, from the French word “autompne” and later, the Latin “autumnus”

Americans: WE CALL IT FALL BECAUSE LEAF FALL

(online)

Why do people think September is childish?

Because it’s always making jokes about Fallrts and Bautumns!

Why does no one text Autumn?

Because it’s always leafing them on Red!

OooOoOh LMWAY TIIME!

OUR LMWAY!

Last Month We Asked You: Why Does No One Talk About #1 and #3 pencils?

Luna-Starr said:Ella dear, we don't discuss #1 & 3 pencils because of the alien invasion of 1987... they stole all memories of #1 & 3 pencils from humanity to claim the ideas for themselves... or so they thought. >:)

Emekittycon Kitten said: Because two is the most important number in pencils, because to me, #2 pencils were made by someone who really liked the second month of the year, February, so he made #2 pencils to honor February.

Wonderful yet cryptic responses, ya’ll! And now, it is time for the…

LOCATION OF THE MONTH!

Unlike most MCUs, everyone submitted the same idea. However, I am LOVING this one, as it is…

JUMPING IN A BIG PILE OF LEAVES!

It really is a shame that my stepdad never needs me to rake, but at least I can jump it in my mind, folks!

Wonderful job, all of you! And now, let’s go out with a bang (hahaha funny AJR) with THE...

Kitten One: I saw a DRAGON!!

Kitten Two: You gotta be KITTEN me!

LMWAY: Umm, this is tricky. Probably Ursula from the Little Mermaid. She's my fave villian!

Tips for SpOoOking: Hide behind a bush. Then make rustling sounds in the bush. When someone walks toward the bush, go to the other side of the bush, VERY QUIETLY. Then JUMP OUT OF THE BUSH AND SCARE THAT PERSON INTO DROPPING THIER CANDY AND THEN EAT THE CANDY, MWHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

Oh my Kyngdom! This looks so cool!

Responding to the LMWAY (what does that stand for?), I think I'd be Count Olaf from A Series of Unfortunate Events, probably in one of his disguises...either Detective Dupin or Stephano.
And as for spooking tips. Hmm...
Obviously, don't scare babies and seniors, that's just mean...um...work on atmosphere, sometimes a lot of little things are scarier than a ghost jumping out from behind a door...yeah, I've run dry. Maybe next time I'll have something better. Sorry!
That's all for now. Sayonara!

@Bakerloo- LMWAY stands for Last Month We Asked You!

Speaking of which, the villain I'd dress up as... I'd be Doofenshmirtz from Phineas & Ferb! XD

How to be spOoOky... (I see what you did there and that's fantastic) You could (I am NOT suggesting this) make a leaving thread as a prank, because that would definitely scare me!

Location: Drinking a PSL

submitted by Luna-Starr, age 27 eons, Existential Ponderment
(September 2, 2020 - 1:26 pm)

LMWAY: Probably Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty

Tips for SpOoOking: If you have a family member that likes to take hot showers, dip a cotton ball in lemon juice and write a message on the bathroom mirror. When the mirror gets steamed up, the message will appear.

Tips for SpOoOking (I like how it's not just tips for spooking, but specifically spOoOking)

Drink water and gurgle it in your mouth by the doorway of your sibling's (or other housemate) room then peek in with a "HELLO!"

(My sister did this to me once and I half died. It's funny because just before she did this, I was thinking "why should I be scared of the dark, monsters don't even exist~" )

I love this thread every month.

Location of the month: Enjoying the first hearth fire of the year!

Important dates: October 6 is National Noodle Day and October 2 is World Vegetarian Day.

LMWAY: Both of these characters start out villainous but are totally redeemed in the end, but they're two of my favorite characters from, like, anything, so I have to: Double Trouble from She-Ra (the 2018 version) and the witch from the new Mulan movie.

submitted by Lupine, Platform 9 and 3/4
(September 6, 2020 - 11:44 pm)

Oh yess!

October 18 is my 12th birthday.

October 3 is my dad's birthday.

October 31 is Halloweeeen!!

For the LMWAY:

I have to think about it, but I'll get back to you later

submitted by Luminescence, age XI, California
(September 7, 2020 - 10:35 am)

Oh, thanks for the award! I'm glad I checked the MCU this month. :) I would like to point out, however, that I didn't come up with the idea for Meatless Week, I simply made the thread about it; Luminescence originally suggested it.

LMWAY: Goops/Her/The Purple One from the webcomic Sleepless Domain. If you haven't read SD, (a) you should do that, and (b) this probably won't make a lot of sense, but I love how she has actual motives and she's a very interesting character.

Location of the Month: Either "Carving a jack-o-lantern" or "BOO!"

Tips for SpOoOking: This might be more a prank than a spook, but if you're sitting behind someone, like in a theater, tap them on the shoulder farther away from you. They'll look behind them and be like, "who tapped me?" and they won't suspect it was you!

submitted by Kitten, Daydreaming
(September 7, 2020 - 2:13 pm)

I looked up Sleepless Domain and it looks cool. Is it appropriate? I'm just asking because I've found some good web comics before but they've had some inappropriate stuff on them so I'm kind of cautious about web comics now. :P

submitted by Lupine, Platform 9 and 3/4
(September 7, 2020 - 10:36 pm)

Yep, Sleepless Domain is appropriate! The only things I can think of that might be problems are that a few characters die, and there’s a kiss at one point.

October jokes: What plant likes Halloween the most? BamBOO!

Location of the Month:  Definitely the pumpkin farm.

Tips for SpOoOking: If your spookee suspects something, then wait until they're occupied.

LMWAY: Ooh...probably Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter.

CBer awards!: Ripley_the_fox who changed to Ripley Wren for participating so much!

Important dates: October 9th is national moldy cheese day!

submitted by Mistia, age 10, Enchanted Forest
(September 8, 2020 - 6:53 am)

LMWAY:

I would DEFINITELY be Scar from the Lion King!

I know he's a guy, but he's my facorite Disney animated villain! and his song 'Be Prepared?' I get chills every time!!!! (I actually think I AM going to be Scar for Halloween, I think it would be cool to cosplay and try out the makeup for Scar!)

tips for spooking:

-Sit very still, and stare into the distance. If someone asks you 'are you ok?' Don't answer. Make it even spookier

-When the house is dark and quiet, but someone is awake, quietly creep up behind them and say 'boo!' (Or something like that.

Another fantastic MCU as always, Ms Starburst.

September is adopt a shelter dog month, so go adopt a shelter dog. :)

October 1 - International Coffee Day

October 2 - World Smiles Day

October 3 - Virus Appreciation Day (apparently whoever made up this holiday didn't know what was coming...)

October 5  - Do something nice day AND world teacher's day

October 7 - international walk to school day

October 11 - It's my party day

October 14 - National Dessert Day

October 18 - National Meatloaf appreciation day

October 21 - International Nacho Day

October 24 - Make a difference day

October 27 - black cat day

October 30 - Frankenstein Friday

October 31 - Carve a pumpkin day and Halloween! (duh)

Tips for spOoOking - set a bowl of candy on your porch with a "please take one" sign. Then dress up as a scarecrow (or just hide somewhere if that's too much work) and watch. If someone comes up and takes more than one, jump out  and scare them, causing them to drop ALL of their candy! hahahah karma.

LMWAY: well, I would be Doofenshmirtz, but it seems that's already taken. Maybe I could be other dimension Doofenshmirtz, like in the movie.

I'm thinking of a few potential advice columns and maybe LMWAY's for November... Let me know if you want to hear them.

Umm . . . what is Floof Industries and what does MCU mean?

Floof Industries is the name used by the CBer who submits these monthly calendars, really like a newsletter compiling jokes, advice, etc. solicited from others during the previous montn. I don't know what MCU means. Maybe someone else will let us know that.
