Cricket Logo Change???

Cricket Logo Change???

Cricket Logo Change???

Has anyone else gotten their October Cricket? THEY CHANGED THE LOGO! It used to be in this cool calligraphy font with Cricket perched at the end and now it's this big orange square. I'm sad. I suggest a petition to bring back the old logo.

(Don't ask why this bothers me so much but it does)

Oh yeah! My mom and I both agree with you, I liked the old logo better, the new one looks sorta babyish to me. It's not really a big deal, though. (I feel bad saying this since the Admins are part of Cricket and are reading this...)

Yeah, I really don't like the new logo. It does look babyish. I'd definitely sign a petition.
My younger sibling gets Ladybug and they changed their cover too! It looks almost the same as Crickets, when they also used to have cool-looking letters. Why did they change it?

I think it might just be for Halloween? I don't know, but I don't really mind it.

It seems that this logo will be on the magazines going forward. We are always interested in hearing your comments and we will definitely discuss what you say. --admin

Yes, I agree. I feel like the new logo is both less beautiful and less mature looking.

We're very interested in hearing CBers' comments—we really do pass them on to the editors. Thanks for telling us your thoughts! --admin

I feel like the new logo isn’t necessarily bad, but I have a feeling it’ll look dated pretty soon. The old  logo was more timeless, and it was a better fit for the magazine in my opinion.

I definitely prefer the old logo. The new one doesn't have that beautiful font or an actual cricket. I agree with Agent Winter - the old logo was a much better fit for the mag.

I don't dislike the new one, but I did like the old one better.

I saw the logo on my sister's copy of Babybug and thought "oh, that's weird looking". I love the old logo with all my heart, and this new one is... eh? It doesn't strike any kind of emotion or evoke any kind of feeling the same way the calligraphy and "stylized" Cricket does. (Also, "the realm of imagination" on the older logo is gone!)

Yeah, I agree with everyone.  The old logo evoked the feeling of timelessness, something that most of us also feel related to literature, and it made the magazine feel whimsical but also proffesional.  Like BakerBOO! said, The logo also included "the realm of imagination" which I felt defined Cricket well!

This new logo feels quite childish compared to the old one, like it should be the logo for Ladybug or Spider instead.  There's a lack of maturity to it that makes me a little less happy to see it on my shelf.  I'm also wondering how well it will pair with the cover art (altough it worked fairly well in the most recent issue), as the old logo seemed to pair seamlessly with almost all of the cover art previously, almost magically.

Those are my thoughts.  It turned out more like a persuasive essay than I wanted, but oh well.

Actually, they changed all of them! my brother's Spider has changed fonts too... :(

I gotta say I liked the old one better. It was beautiful. this one seems artificial.

I agree. I respect the choises the editors made, but they changed all of the logos, and I personally liked the old ones better.  :)

It..it just doesn't look natural. And crickets are part of nature. I liked the old one better.

Yeah, I think they changed the font on all of the magazines to be the same, which I feel like makes them all look...the same? I mean I know they're all part of the same business, but...

They changed it?!? *looks it up* *frowns* Aw yeah, they did. :(

I agree with all of you, I respect the decisions of the editors and stuff, but I really liked the old logo. It did feel more timeless and more... well, brought back more memories.

I really liked the old logo better.  I feel it matched the Cricket magazines much better than the new one.  The new logo rersembles the Highlight magazine logo.  While Highlight is a fine magazine I think all the Cricket magazines are many times better.  If Cricket is so much better, I don't think the logo should look similar to the Highlight logo.

The old logo blended well with the cover art, and while the new logo looked okay with the recent cover art I think that it would never match most of the previous cover art.  Cricket magazines are a lot about good quality art.  The new logo seems to take over the art and dominate it.  Instead of complimenting and bringing out the art.

The old logo was whimsical, timeless, beautiful, etc.  The old logo was appealing to all ages.  It captured what the Cricket magazines are really about.  Something the new logo doesn't do.

I don't want to sound rude or disrespectful.  If I did come across that way I'm really sorry, I definitely didn't mean it that way.  But I love the old logo so much more.  I would love to see the old logo back on the magazine again.

Just because I'm curious, why was the logo changed?  Was there something wrong with it?
