Chatterbox: In This Month's Issue

I just wanted to say something.

There have been a lot of things going on in the chatterbox. I think there have been hostile people who keep on nagging at you. But I wanted to say something. If you ever feel hurt in your life, go to a trusted adult. THAT, my friends, is standing up for yourself. Not everyone is as welcoming as Luminescence and the other people on the Chatterbox who welcome you with open arms. Also. Search up “All Summer in a Day by Ray Bradbury”. This is an AMAZING example of what I am trying to get to. When someone bullies you, they are cowards. I’m sorry if this is rude. But they are. I want everyone to know that they should find at least one safe place for them. And make the right friends. Make friends who are trustworthy, who think for the best of you. Humble friends, kind friends. Friends who don’t try taking advantage of you. I have one old friend who was like that, and she accused me of doing it when it was actually her. This is getting quite long, so I shall end it before it turns into a rant. Thank you for reading this.

I'm sorry you've felt like people on the Chatterbox are being mean. I haven't noticed that but maybe I'm just not paying attention. You gave some really good advice too (All Summer in a Day is really good). I hope we can earn your trust back and be the right kind of friends to you <3

Agreed. Please keep this in mind. This has not only happened to me.

That is some amazing advice.

And I'm touched that I was in this <3. Seriously. I got a little teary.

All Summer in a Day might just be my favorite short story, because it's a hard truth about the world.

Not trying to sound pessimistic and cynical (was that used right? I still have only a vague idea of what cynical means) but people are going to be mean. You have to live with it.

But that brings me to another point. Most people aren't mean just to be mean.

They might be misguided, or hurt.

They might not know what they're doing is wrong.

They might just be making a mistake.

They might spend the rest of their life feeling bad about it.

That in no way makes bullying okay, but I've made mistakes. You've made mistakes. We've all said the wrong thing at one point or another. If someone is bullying you, don't retaliate. Get help from a trusted adult, especially because you might not be the only one who needs help.

Okay, wrapping up now. What I'm trying to say is while bullying is awful it's not always because the bully is a bad person. But like you said, bullies are probably scared.

Everyone, you're better than that. Look back on your actions. Make sure you haven't been harrassing or bullying someone unintentionally. We all can be better than we are, and we're all a little bit better than we were <3 <3

Lumi, that was beautiful. I agree with everything you said. <3

All Summer in a Day was really good, although really sad.

Yes, my dear friend. The world is a hard place, different from childhood. And the people who are mean are either jealous, not realizing it, or just as hurt as you. Lumi, you are a great person, and I know you will lead a great life.

Happy living, Anonymous.
