Art Contest: Wild West Adventure

After reading this issue of Cricket, everybuggy felt like shouting “Yippi-ki-yay!” Muffin couldn’t stop admiring the cool Pony Express horse on our cover. Cricket practiced his fast draw, imagining the danger and excitement of riding a stagecoach. And Ladybug loved the . . . gold! For this month’s contest, everybuggy wanted to see your best art of a Wild West adventure.

Perhaps you’ll be inspired by some of the courageous people who made the West—the gold rushers, settlers, and Native Americans—or by the many dangers they faced, from robbers to wild animals to flash floods and storms. Will your art depict a thriving town or snow-capped mountains? A rushing river or a vast desert? Perhaps you’ll draw a portrait of a western animal. Or your adventure might be a quiet and beautiful scene, such as camping on the High Plains under a beautiful dome of stars.

Whatever you choose, the bugs will be moseying over to the big roundup at the Cricket Country corral, waiting for the noon stage to thunder into town with your best art of a Wild West adventure. Get along, little dogies!
