Contests

New ART Contest: Inspired

This Cricket features some inspired artists. Edmonia Lewis was inspired to sculpt people and events in history, like the death of Cleopatra and the Emancipation Proclamation. Leonardo da Vinci was inspired to paint the Mona Lisa, a portrait of a young woman. And the artists on our cover were inspired to paint all sorts of things that were meaningful to them. For this month’s contest, everybuggy would love to behold your best original drawing of whatever inspires your art.

Maybe you will imagine yourself as an artist in Paris or Florence, painting the beautiful scenery along a river. Or perhaps, like Leonardo, you will paint a portrait, maybe of someone familiar to you, or a person you admire from history, or an animal in nature, or even your pet. You might be inspired to create a scene wholly from your imagination, with wizards and magical creatures, or characters from a well-loved book or mythology. You could even feel inspired to illustrate a Golden Rule, like “Too much magic ends up tragic,” or a rule of your own invention.

Whether you are inspired by a beautiful sunset, your favorite sport, or something that catches your eye in your local park or town, everybuggy in Cricket Country will be setting up their easels around the mailbox, wearing their smocks and berets, as they wait to enjoy your best original drawing—just one, please—of whatever inspires your art.
