Story Contest: Animal in a Funny Place

Mice in pajamas? Goats in the White House? Monkeys in the kitchen? Animals are showing up in lots of funny places in this issue of Cricket. That gave Marty an idea. For this month’s contest, we’d like you to write a story about an animal that causes problems for humans by being in a funny or unusual place.

Will your animal be large or little, mild or wild? Awesome and clawsome or friendly and bendy? Furry and purry or scaly and scary? Nobuggy knows but you!

So, send us your very best story—350 words or less, please—about an animal in a funny or unusual place. Everybuggy in Cricket Country will be laughing around the mailbox when we find out how your out-of-place animal creates problems for human beans.

    1. Your contest entry must be your very own original work. Ideas and words should not be copied.
    2. If you're 14 years old or younger, your entry must be signed by your parent or guardian, saying it is your own original work, that no help was given, and granting Cricket permission to publish prizewinning entries in the September 2009 issue or on our Web site. If you're older than 14, you must sign your own work, verifying that it is original.
    3. Be sure to include your name, age, and full address on your entry.
    4. Only one entry per person, please.
