Story Contest: Daring Rescues

Did anybuggy besides Marty notice that this issue of Cricket is filled with daring rescues? City-kid Kirk rescues his old smokechasing grandfather. Ali is clever enough to rescue his beloved monkey, Layla. Sean O’Halloran braves faerie magic to free his wife, Molly. Polish doctors fake a typhus epidemic to save villagers from the Nazis. Even raccoons rescue their kits. So Marty suggested this was a great time for Cricket to come to the rescue with a new story contest--about a rescue, of course.

Will you story take place in modern times or in the past, or maybe even the future? Who will be the daring hero--a person, an animal, or maybe some other kind of creature entirely? What obstacles will your hero overcome? A secret code? A fortified castle? A magic spell? Whom will he or she rescue, and from what kind of danger or evil villain? The choice, as always, is yours.

So rescue everybuggy from running out of exciting stories to read this spring by sending us your best story of 350 words or less about a rescue. Marty will be leading a brigade of valiant buggies to rescue your stories from the Cricket Country mailbox when they arrive.
