A Vision of Reality

I streaked through the sky, laughing. I could fly! I had just run out of the house and found myself soaring through the air like a bird and flashing across the sky like a jet. I flew through the city, zooming past buildings. I couldn’t believe what was happening.

I sped up and landed on City Hall. I spied a homeless man. His clothes were rags, his face sunburned. Pity came over me, and I longed for him to be happy.

Quickly, the man changed. His sad expression got wiped out by a cheerful expression. His clothes shimmered into a t-shirt and shorts. His sunburn turned into a tan. He walked off, whistling.

Surprised, I quickly took off and flew to the warehouses. I suddenly saw a horrible scene: three burglars snatching a woman’s purse and running off. Anger boiled inside me. Why couldn’t these men live honestly and not steal?

The three men halted, and the woman, who was chasing them, crashed into them. The four tumbled down onto the ground. Two men immediately jumped up and helped the woman to get up. Surprised, she stepped back. The third man scrambled away, grabbed the purse from the ground . . . and walked toward the woman. He offered her the purse, which she quickly took.
They each walked off in their own directions, the men whistling, hands in pockets, the woman glancing back every now and then.

I suddenly realized what I had just done--mind control! I had wished for the men to stop stealing, and they had given the purse back to the woman.

Exultant, I blasted away and zoomed toward the city again. As I was flying toward the tallest building like a missile, I suddenly opened my eyes and found myself in my bed.

Confused but excited, I just figured out that I had had a dream--the most awesome dream I had ever had in my life! I jumped out of bed and ran out of the house. Suddenly, I was flying--exactly like my dream! Laughing with ecstasy, I streaked across the sky.
