The Python

I was standing next to the fence at my local playground, Joey’s Park. It was about noon. Probably just a normal summer day.

Suddenly, a giant green python slithered up from the parking lot and started up the fence. It was as thick as a tree trunk and patterned with yellow and brown diamonds.

I was terrified! I wanted to scream for help, but no sound escaped my mouth. I wanted to run, but my feet were glued to the ground. I couldn’t move an inch. All I could do was blink and stand there helplessly.

The python was now on the ground in front of me, climbing up my shoe. Since I was unable to move a muscle, I could only watch as the snake lifted his head to my leg and sunk his fangs into the flesh.

Poison spread through my veins and  . . . I woke with a start, shaking and covered with cold sweat.
