Seeing Nature in Action

Watch the snow
As it floats by
In tiny, shimmering tufts of white,
Dancing,
Sparkling in the winter sun.

Notice the sun
As it glitters across
The icy winter pathways,
Curling around every surface,
Shining through the branches of golden-brimmed trees.

Listen to the trees
As they calm to a muted silence, and then
Fly swiftly, though not leaving the ground,
With the wind pulling endlessly at their branches,
Gently hushing their fluttering leaves.

Look up at the leaves
As they relentlessly pull
On the branches,
Trying to take their first step of independence
Reaching toward the chilled, silver ground, then
Breaking free and
Falling.
