Twin Feathers

Against the first light of the dawn,
Twin lovely feathers glided by.
Contrasting, like the air and grass--
But in harmony, like you and I.

One was pure and clean as snow;
It softly twirled among the clouds.
It caught me gazing, and, like you,
It stopped and turned away and frowned.

The other was a peacock's gem,
Effervescent as sea foam.
It had eagerness, like me,
To laugh and dance and leap and roam.

And as these feathers soared past us,
We followed them far as we could run.
We laughed and chased, we smiled and ran;
It was unforgettably fun.

We float like feathers, you and I,
Vibrant in our perfect pair.
Against the full bloom of the sun,
Twin lovely feathers in the air.
