Wild Animal Poetry

Submitted by: Lily E., age 10, Holmdel, NJ

On a tropical beach,
Where palm trees danced in the gentle breeze
And the buttery sun melted into the horizon,
A dolphin jumped.
Into the pink and orange sky she leaped.
Graceful as a dancer,
She flapped her gray-blue fins.
Letting out a squeal of joy,
She twisted and turned
Like the world’s wettest ballerina.
Then she dived down,
            down,
                down,
Breaking the surface of the water.
Back in the big blue world of fish.
