Lynx in a Snowstorm

Pink cheeks against cool glass
Wide eyes watch the swirling white
A wasteland.
Empty.
Suddenly,
A flash of silver-gold,
Like lightning.
Dark eyes the color of warm syrup
Sparkle against the snow.
Tall, black-tipped ears stand

Unmoving

Still

Frozen

A snow globe, forever preserved in time.
Don’t blink.
Too late.
Gone.
