Seagull

Its wings beating steadily
Against the cloudy gray sky
The seafoam froth
Beats against the pebbled beach
Raindrops begin to fall
Pitter, patter, splash
On the rising blue swells
Yet the seagull flies on,
Its beady dark eyes are
Black, like the heart of the sea
At midnight.
