The Starry Sky

Eons ago, the stars roamed free. But as protection against the black holes that threatened to suck them into perpetual nothingness, many grouped together, creating constellations. One star claimed that he didn't need anyone's help. His name was Betelgeuse, and this is his story.

Betelgeuse was the youngest and strongest star of his time. Others complained that he was too cocky and confident, but they nonetheless respected his courage and skills.

Meanwhile, a black hole named MAL98 was swiftly forming, mere galaxies away. He wasn't huge, but traveled five times faster than regular stars. Thus, he swiftly overtook and consumed his prey from behind. The Leo and Taurus clans and countless others had joined forces to destroy this vicious threat.

Upon hearing this, Betelgeuse jumped into action. He arrived as the Canis siblings were getting mauled and swiftly burned his way through to save them. MAL98 sped off as Leo and Taurus attempted to corner him.

MAL98 suddenly veered straight to Betelgeuse, who found himself alone. Proudly, he swelled himself up brighter than he ever had--but still MAL98 wasn't burned. He was adeptly maneuvering between Betelgeuse's strong rays . . . and soon found a weak spot.

Betelgeuse felt his strength draining away, faster than he could fight back. MAL98 kept advancing, his edges rippling as he zigzagged through Betelgeuse's feeble artillery.

With a lurch in his core, Betelgeuse finally realized he couldn't do it by himself. Scattering Betelgeuse's defense aside, MAL98 swooped closer and closer. With all the energy he could muster, the young star readied himself one last time.

Just as MAL98 pounced, Betelgeuse shot the last of his gamma rays--into nothing. Having seen MAL98 distracted by his victim, the other stars were now fighting him furiously. Linking each other in defense, they battled MAL98 from all sides, burning endless fiery holes into his walls. With no strength left to fight, Betelgeuse watched, and learned.

Light-years later, the constellations gathered again to welcome a new clan to their universe: a gigantic warrior body called Orion, and with proud Betelgeuse as his right hand.
