Story Contest: Escaping a Monster
Archie's Encounter
BIGFOOT CROSSING BEWARE.
"Yeah, right," Archie Stanwood said as he was walking in the woods. "Bigfoot doesn't exist!"
Archie was going camping in the woods all alone, for the very first time. He was absolutely sure that there was no such thing as Bigfoot, so he was sure that he was absolutely fine.
"Hum dee dum." Archie sang a song while he was walking. It went like this:
"Campin' alone, for the very first time,
Campin' alone, singin' a rhyme.
No need to worry, no need to hurry,
'Cause ev'rythin' will be just fine!"
Archie kept looking back at the Bigfoot sign, starting to get a little worried. Bigfoot? Ha! Does Bigfoot really exist? I hope not. I wish I could go back home, but I forgot the way I ca--
Archie's thoughts were interrupted by a loud bang! and the sound of a tree falling behind him. He started running deeper into the woods.
"Huh, huth." Archie was panting hard, but he kept on going.
Meanwhile, trees kept crashing behind Archie. There also came the sound of "Hagrarooo!!!"
Archie fled for his life, but while he was running, he tripped on a root sticking up out of the ground. "Arrgh!" he yelled as he got a face full of dirt.
Then a gigantic monster walked up to Archie. "Chargarr!!!"
Archie sat up. He rubbed his eyes. He wiped his face. "Bigfoot?" he said wearily.
As if in response, the monster of an ape stepped one step closer. He loomed over Archie.
"Was that a yes or a no?" Archie asked.
The Bigfoot responded in a way that sounded like "Me Bigfoot." It said, "May Beefoo!"
Okay," Archie said.
Bigfoot let out an enormous belch.
Archie wasted no more time. He got up and started running. Bigfoot chased after him, merely running over trees like they were flowers.
Archie picked up speed. So did Bigfoot. Luckily Archie was a runner and knew how to keep his pace. Apparently Bigfoot didn't and soon tired out.
Phew! Archie thought. That was a close one! I'm never going camping again! And he didn't.
