The Plague's Cure

"Henry, my throat hurts. Can I have a cup of water?" Henry's mother croaked.

Henry sprinted outside to his family's well. The plague had infected everyone in his family except himself. It was a matter of days before they'd be gone to him.

"Mother, I've decided that I'm going to the Clarkmore Castle," Henry said. It was common knowledge that the cure for the city's plague was to suck on one of the dragon Sashembo's scales, and since she inhabited Clarkmore Castle, that became the place for cure seekers to go.

"O.K., Henry. Just remember that many creatures don't like to fight," Henry's mother croaked.

Henry nodded.

"Tell father and Elizabeth that I've gone," Henry said. So with that Henry set off to Clarkmore Castle.

Henry reached the castle's creaky drawbridge and was greeted by two knights. "Kid, you going there? You'll be killing yourself by doing that," one knight said in disbelief. The other knight nodded.

Despite what they had said, Henry walked on.

The castle was filled with bats, dust, armor, and gore. Henry walked up some stairs to the room where Sashembo was. He opened the door.

The dragons' claws were out in a flash, and in a flash later Henry couldn't even move his arms.

"Please, don't' kill me. I just want the cure, 'cause, 'cause my family's got the plague and I want to cure them," Henry pleaded.

"I had a son once, but then some knights killed him," the dragon growled.

"I'll tell the city to stop harming you. I just want to have the cure so my family will live," Henry cried.

"Here," Sashembo sighed while handing Henry one of her scales. "Tell them that I gave it to you because you didn't fight me," Sashembo said. "Henry, you're a very special person."

Henry grinned.
