Story Contest: Escaping a Monster
It all started with a horror movie and too much sugar before bed. I had dozed off on the stiff, leather couch for an hour or so. After a while I realized that I was in a long, dark hallway. I smelled that odd, particular smell of an old sandwich rotting in a school locker. I heard the pitter-patter of shoes and the slight sound of breathing. Obviously I wasn't the only person there.
"Hello?" I questioned. Nobody replied. I sauntered down the deserted hallway, looking for any sign of another person. Yet again I heard the pitter-patter of shoes and the slight sound of breathing.
"HELLO?" I questioned with fear. "Is anybody there?" Seconds later I was startled by a sudden shadow that sprinted across the tiled floor. The shadow stopped right in front of me. It was a little girl, specifically my annoying eight-year-old cousin, Simaya.
The walls started closing in on me, and the floor slowly started to disappear. Frightened by the mysterious things occurring, I sprinted out of the long, dark hallway and out the doors, onto the freshly cut grass.
When I got outside there was a navy blue Lamborghini waiting for me by the curb.
"Get in," the person in the car requested.
I got into the car. I looked over to the driver's seat to see nobody other than Simaya. Confused at what had just happened, I hadn't realized that I had just been dropped off at an old brick house, which seemed to be my house. I walked up the narrow sidewalk and knocked on the door. Nobody answered, so I tried the handle. It was unlocked, so I temptingly stepped inside.
Lamps were shattered, the tables were spilt, and the doors were off of their hinges. I hurried upstairs, ran into my room, and slammed the door, hoping that nobody was in there.
BEEP BEEP, BEEP BEEP, BEEP BEEP.
I was relieved to hear the loud, obnoxious sound of my alarm clock waking me up from the dreadful dream. At least I think it was a dream. Until I realized that I was still dreaming.
