Good Sportsmanship Leads to Good Friendship

Peggy took a deep breath and climbed onto the stage. She had practiced for many hours and felt confident. The music started. She began to twirl.

If you don’t know already, Peggy was trying out for Pernsetta the Phoenix at the school ballet performance. She was wearing a feathery headdress that was itchy, but oh well. No one ever said ballet costumes were comfy!

The next day, Peggy couldn’t pay attention in class. She only wanted to see if she was Pernsetta.

Finally, the bell rang. Peggy and a whole bunch of other students ran to the auditorium.

“Who got Pernsetta?” someone asked.

Peggy felt confident enough to say, “Me!” but she didn’t. Instead she walked over to the list. And this is what she saw: Pernsetta--Summer Green

Peggy was heartbroken, but anyways she congratulated Summer. That’s when they both heard crying.

Elaina Ellie Easten was sitting in the corner. “I got Sky crew,” she wept.

Yikes, thought Peggy. The Sky crew was a group of dancers who only moved their feet.

The director walked over to Peggy. “You are the Sun,” he said.

Then at last it was the day of the performance. Peggy was all dressed in yellow. When it came time for Peggy’s dance, she started flapping her arms. The Sky crew stood behind her, moving their feet. She did a pirouette, which received a lot of applause.

After about thirty minutes, the show ended. Peggy went out for ice cream with Summer.

One Year Later

Peggy and Summer clacked their feet. They were starring in a tap performance together. When they grew up and became professional dancers, they continued to star concertedly. Peggy never knew good sportsmanship would lead to good friendship!
