Harvest Moon on Halloween

The orange sphere
rests on a throne of twinkling stars
Dark swathing the sky
But
the light from the moon
pushes
it back
Lighting up the treetops
Sending
an eerie glow
over the black and orange city
drifting over the heads
of cloaked people
and pumpkins with faces
flickering candles hidden within
A whisper of crisp wind
has a crimson leaf
twirling down
It is silhouetted in front of the moon
for a brief instant
and then is gone.
