Time

1775. The heart of the American Revolution. The war between the rich, snobby Englishmen and the weak, frail Americans. You have heard the tales of how the Americans pulled through the death and gunshots and won this war through bravery, but I am here to tell you the truth. My name is Nickolas White, and I live in the age of technology! After the grandson of Thomas Edison invented the time machine, I was allowed to be the first to use it.

Now you might think the American soldiers would have a shred of dignity, but the sad truth about George Washington’s famed minutemen is that they were hopeless. After I entered the revolution, I realized I would soon be pointed out because of my futuristic look and crept inside a supply crate to eavesdrop on the soldiers.

“Alright men, saddle up. We are going to Bunker Hill!” shouted President George Washington.

Bunker Hill. This is the battle that gave the colonial soldiers hope that even outnumbered and outgunned their ragtag army could pull together and receive their freedom. Only one problem--there was no way this amateur group of farmers with explosive weapons could take a full-blown army, but I knew how to fix it. My supply crate was manhandled into the carriage, and we started off on the most exciting, bumpy, dusty, and bloodcurdling horse-drawn carriage ride of my life.

After about an hour of headache and queasiness we stopped. My supply cart was moved to a location where the soldiers could obtain their surplus of supplies, but I had already thought of a plan. I hopped out of the crate where I told the truth about myself.

“Soldiers of the revolution, I am the fiftieth president of the United States, and you are under my command!” I declared.

At first the soldiers were skeptical, but after looking at what seemed like billions of British soldiers flooding the field in front of them, they ditched George Washington and announced, “Lead us to victory, Mr. President.”

That is why my face is now on the dollar bill.
