Lost Lovers

An old sea captain was he,
He sailed the ship Her Majesty.
One day a lady boarded his ship,
One that gave a trembling to his lower lip.
He thought they were meant to be together,
But that night there was terrible weather.
The ship rocked to and fro,
Captain told his men to row, row, row!
He worried for that pretty lass,
He prayed the storm would quickly pass.
Through the raindrops he saw her,
Looking at the moon and yonder,
He saw a man leap out of the dark,
Screaming like a maddened lark.
The mysterious man pushed the lass into the sea.
Captain jumped in after his girl, Anna Lee.
He swam till he could swim no more,
His cries could not be heard over the sea’s deafening roar.
Captain sunk to the bottom of the sea,
And there he still is, with his true love, Anna Lee.
There he sits and wonders, his brains he tries to rack,
He sits and wonders, Did Anna Lee love him back?
