Poetry Contest: Urrmsh Song
Submitted by: Sasha B., age 10, Berkeley, CA
The Song of the Urrmsh
We sing of our life
And the Rake, raging home.
How we row without strife,
Yet have yearning to roam.
We push in the eve,
And we pull all the day.
Armfolk row without leave
In a cellar cramped away.
We’ve seen the sun
And the moon rise and set.
When each day is done
It is all the same yet.
The nightingale girl,
With her hair flowing gold,
Hath now flown in a swirl
To her home, for she’s bold.
She had heard of this home
By its name Gorhyv Glyn,
Where the elves go to roam
And have freedom within.
Yes, the nightingale girl
Hath now flown away.
Though she’s gone in a swirl,
We’re here, rowing to stay.
