Music of the Earth

Native music was from Mother Nature
So their music creates her.
Apache fiddles are the water,
Flowing through the rocks
Maracas are the merry fire,
When it crackles and pops
Big drums beat and boom,
Creating thunder of a storm
Small drums make the heartbeat
Of a bird, soft and warm
Rain sticks make a drizzle,
Light, cool, and thin
Flutes are the summer leaves,
Rustling in the wind
Long ago our native people
Made sounds of water, trees, and hearths
Together all these sounds
Create music of the Earth
