What Am I?

I have a bow but I am not Robin Hood
I have quite a tune but mostly stay high
I rest on a shoulder but I am not a pet
Carnegie Hall to Musikverein, you name it, I have been there
I rest in a case unless I am playing
I am from the darkest corners but play in the brightest light
I am popular in a  symphony and I am a must in a string group
I can’t talk but with the way I play, I don’t need to
My polished wood glimmers in the moon’s misty shine
I play the sweetest tunes as fingers quickly move

What am I?
I am Violin
