Demons Inside

In the night, shadows creeping
into minds, darkness leaping
in my soul, they find a friend,
a demon, who wishes my end;
For I am Jekyll, and he is Hyde.

In my heart, there is an angel for that demon
they fight and fight, through every season.
But come the night of All Hallows’ Eve,
the dark is stronger than you’d ever believe.
The demon triumphs and seizes my heart,
purging the light from every part.
I was Doctor Jekyll; now I am Hyde.

Then, ever after:
my heart is stained black as coal,
and where in every person should be a soul
there remains naught but a gaping hole.
For just like Jekyll to Mr. Hyde
I am given over to the demon inside.
