A Witch’s Recipe

Two witches sat near a window as hungry as can be,
When one said to the other, “Hey, look up in that tree!”
There sat a huge bat as big as a pumpkin.
They licked their lips and started a jumpin’.
“Let’s make bat pie or maybe a roast,
Maybe some cookies or maybe French toast!”
Then one said to the other, “I have an idea, let’s make bat cake!”
“Good idea, but what do we need before we can bake?”
They grabbed the big book and flipped and flipped
And when they found it, their eyes simply lit.
“One dozen green eggs, and a blue cockatoo,
And some thread from Winnie the Pooh!
Some werewolf hairs and a vampire’s fang,
And just a pinch of a zombie’s dead brain.
Some stinky old wraps from a mummy’s left arm,
And a few rusty parts from a small car alarm.
Three whiskers from a one-hundred-year-old cat,
And don’t forget . . . one big, juicy . . .”
But when they looked, their bat had flown away,
So the witches have not eaten to this day.
